I remain humbled by such an occasion where the world has seen the true face of American democracy. President Barack Obama, who assumed the duties of the White House, a building which enslaved black hands built, will now guide its policy. In his speech, President Obama articulated to the world that America will never back down in the face of adversity nor cower in fear. He reminded me that anything is possible, that America truly is a land of the free, and equality and justice are the commitments that define our nation. More importantly, he declared that we must honor our commitment by protecting freedom and democracy around the world.
