New Hampshire was the battleground state that resurrected John McCain in the Republican primary, but in the general election it’s leaning decidedly toward rival Barack Obama .
The latest Suffolk University poll released this evening gives Obama a 53%-40% lead built largely on the strength of his support among women voters in the state.
The presidential rivals draw evenly, 46%, among men in New Hampshire, but Obama has a 25 point advantage, 60%-35%, over McCain among women.
This is particularly significant for Obama since these are the same voters that helped put former Democratic primary rival Hillary Clinton over the top in the Jan. 8 primary.
In a statement, the universitys polling director said McCains hopes of peeling away disaffected Clinton voters may be dashed in light of the new data. “And these numbers suggest that Sarah Palin has done little to help the Republican ticket, particularly with women ...
