IDF gets another big fish; Hamas kills 'collaborators'

IDF gets another big fish; Hamas kills 'collaborators' The IDF killed off another big fish on Tuesday morning, getting Ayman Siam , the head of Hamas' rocket and artillery unit in the Gaza Strip. Siam was killed in an attack on his house during a joint IDF and Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) operation Tuesday morning in the northern Gaza town of Jebaliya. He was known to be present in the house at the time of the attack. The terrorist, who was wounded in one of the first IAF air strikes of Operation Cast Lead 10 days ago, founded the Hamas rocket launching program, and was also the head of the organization's artillery program throughout Gaza. The Jerusalem Post ...
Operation Cast Lead's Qana moment?

Operation Cast Lead's Qana moment? [image] Please vote for Israel Matzav as Best Midsize blog in the 2008 Weblog Awards by going here . I trust you all remember what happened at Qana in southern Lebanon in 2006. On Sunday, July 30, 2006, the IDF attacked a civilian building that was being used by Hezbullah as a munitions depot. The building has a school and residence built directly over it. Hezbullah claimed dozens of civilians were killed in the attack. Israel agreed to stop bombing runs for 48 hours (sound familiar?). Eventually the 'massacre' was proven to be a hoax to which bodies were brought from other locations . Eventually, the entire ...
Since Hamas was getting bored with blowing up Israeli schools, they decided to blow up a UN school?
This Blog Is Full Of Crap —
As the world screams for Israeli blood over the explosion at a UN school in Gaza today, nobody's asking the obvious question:
At least thirty people were killed in an explosion in a UN-run school in the village of Jabalya in the northern Gaza Strip, according to Palestinian reports. There were reportedly also scores of wounded on the scene. The Israeli military said it was looking into the reports. The military denied having attacked the school, as Palestinians claimed, and was probing to find out the source of the explosion.
The United Nations said hundreds of ...
UN School Used by Terrorists As a Weapons Dump
Little Green Footballs —
The UN and the mainstream media are wailing and accusing Israel of war crimes (yes, again) after the IDF returned fire at a UN school from which Palestinians were firing mortars.
The explosives and booby traps installed in the school by Hamas then blew up, killing dozens of people.
And the world blames Israel.
30 reported killed in blast at UN school.
At least thirty people were reportedly killed and 53 wounded in an explosion in a UN-run school in the town of Jabalya in the northern Gaza Strip, according to Palestinians. The IDF issued a statement saying the school grounds were used by terrorists to fire mortar shells at the ...
True Evil Exposed: The Gaza School Incidents
A Blog For All —
... The Israeli official said "hostile fire" was directed at the soldiers from within the school. He said soldiers returned fire and multiple explosions went off, presumably emanating from munitions stored there. John Ging, head of Gaza operations for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, said most of the casualties at the U.N. school in Jebaliya, where some 350 people had taken refuge, were outside the building. He did not say whether the artillery came from Israeli forces. More recent reports indicate that Hamas had boobytrapped the school, and that Hamas set off the ...
In Gaza, Horror Piled Atop Horror
Comments from Left Field —
Haaretz reports that at least 30 children were killed and 55 wounded when the IDF assaulted a UN school with mortar rounds.
Palestinian officials had initially said that 40 people were killed in the attack, but UN sources put the number at 30 killed and 55 wounded.
An IDF spokesman said that troops had fired mortar rounds at the school, after militants barricaded inside shot mortar shells at the Israeli forces.
“Initial checks … show that from inside the school mortars were fired at Israeli forces,” a spokesman said. “In response, the forces fired a number of mortar rounds into the ...

The thing about warfare is that it never goes according to plan. Having done what could be done with aviation fires over the course of several days, the IDF pushed mechanized infantry and armor into the warren that is Gaza. In the wake of a misguided tank round that killed four of its own soldiers and wounded twenty others, Israeli troops report that they took incoming mortar rounds, counter-fires were applied and a UN schoolhouse with more than 30 Gazans were killed when - according to the IDF - a chain reaction occurred among the booby-traps, IEDs and cached munitions stored at the school.
This is entirely plausible: Iraqi insurgents often hid weapons and ...

UN School in Gaza Rigged By Hamas
PoliGazette —
Since Israel’s latest invasion of Gaza in an attempt to stop continual cross-border rocket attacks from Hamas on Israeli towns and villages, the Israeli attack on a United Nations school has become the cause celebre of anti-Israel critics. Well, it appears that the standard script of Israeli depravity and Palestinian victimhood once again fails to reflect reality. Hamas was using the U.N. school as a base for mortar fire, using Palestinian civilians hiding there as human shields. Even worse, Hamas had rigged the building with explosives to increase casualties even further.
There is no way to spin this as anything but the intentional killing of ...
Let Them Eat Rockets
American Thinker —
Email Friend | Print Article | January 08, 2009 Let Them Eat Rockets By Richard Baehr The international community is expressing outrage over the relatively small number of civilian casualties reported in the first 11 days of Israel's operation in Gaza. War, apparently, must now mean zero civilian casualties. If anyone is killed, they seem to be saying, war crimes are committed. Of course, anyone has the right to object to Israel's invasion. But these critics are conveniently silent about Hamas' deadly objective when it fired 7,000 rockets and mortars into Israel over the past few years, and the recent torrent of projectiles it launched to end the six-month ...
So NOW they want to investigate war crimes?
Comments from Left Field —
The current situation in Gaza has been raging for two weeks now and all the while pressure has been mounting around the world for Israel to cease their offensive against Hamas. Yesterday this pressure culminated, as it was bound to do, in allegations that Israel has and is committing war crimes. Such allegations have common been hinted at on the web, and even here on this site, but things are a bit different when the person responsible for the remarks is on Navi Pillay, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
She [Pillay] said conditions currently being endured by the 1.5 million strong population of Gaza “constitute egregious violations of ...
Targeting Schools
Comments from Left Field —
In case anyone still doubts the plausibility of earlier reports that the Israeli attack on the UN school in Gaza wasn’t entirely to blame for the ensuing damage and death toll, there is now video evidence showing just such booby trapping and explosives planting in a Gazan school. My friends, this is an act that fits the legal definition of a war crime.

So how long until we start demanding war crimes investigations for this particular revelation? Any guesses?
