Ben Smith's BlogAndy Stern and Al Gore rule themselves out of an Obama administration. After a very centralized campaign modeled, in some ways, on the centralized Bush campaign, and eight years of an administration in which cabinet secretaries were generally guided by White House staff, and the makings of another powerhouse White House staff, it's an open question whether top-shelf Obama backers like those don't retain more power on the outside.
