... – having another term as governor under her belt (or partial term, anyway) would boost her executive experience creds. Maybe she’s had enough of the rough and tumble life of politics and wants some time away from the limelight? I’m sure we’ll find out in due time.
Ok – as I’ve been writing this, I see that Palin not only will not seek a second term as governor, but she will be resigning “in weeks” (via MM). What is going on?

Leftist Christmas in July: Sarah Palin Resigns
The Sundries Shack —
Sarah Palin just announced that she is resigning as Governor of Alaska , effective the end of the month. Twitter is afire with commentary, mostly from folks watching her announcement. Still, it’s a pretty big shock. I’m not going to speculate about why she’s stepping down. I have no earthly idea. I have to think, though, that being out of the public spotlight will mostly end the incessant, vicious attacks against her family from the verminous left. Andrew Sullivan can now put his Trig-Truther tinfoil hat away, David Letterman can find some other minor child to ...

... said the same thing about Reagan. For those who are conjuring away, checking the crystal balls, laying down Tarot cards, dragging out the Ouija boards, making all sorts of pronouncements, just remember, with Palin, WYSIWYG. There is not trickery in her, she is NOT your standard model politician. And for those who say "But, but, she doesn't know enough!!!" True. But, do you? Remember, Obama was elected on little more than "hope, change, yes we can!" ... that she will not be running for a second term, she will not only be more free to travel to key states between now and 2010 but will be able to devote full time to campaigning in the critical year between January 2011 and January 2012. The logistics alone present enormous challenges for even a sitting governor from Alaska. Hence, the clean break that could be followed by a very low key effort to build a national team for a run in 2012. At least, that appears to be her intent. Here’s Michelle Malkin with some excerpts from her press conference that seems to point to some ...
