Change.gov Pulls Its Agenda
techPresident —
... on Thursday, President-elect Obama's transition website, Change.gov, "echoes [the] campaign pledge of open government." The site's "Agenda" section detailed the Obama Administration's policy promises and proposals, "from 'Civil Rights' to 'Women,' and describes their vision for an American service corps."
But as of last night, the entire "Agenda" section has been removed from Change.gov, replaced by three broad sentences about what Obama hopes to do.
Here's what it looks like now:
If you try to go to the old links, like ...

... website, scanned and saved by ATR. Here's the AFTER. The "before", nearly five pages long, specifically lists these priorities, the "after" only contains two vague paragraphs about "change" and ending the war. Think this sounds fishy? ATR President Grover Norquist sure does. “This is the opposite of transparency and we would ask that Obama restore the deleted portion of the site,” Norquist said.

... . Under the header " Agenda ," the only gay rights items included were the Matthew Shepard hate crimes act and the Employment Non-Discrimination Act. No mention of repealing those two mainstays of the Clinton administration: the Defense of Marraige Act and Don't Ask Don't Tell. Within days, no doubt due to flak from all quarters about what domestic and foreign policy goals were included and what weren't, the entire section was removed from the site, replaced by general language that promises "a comprehensive and detailed agenda" without saying what it is. Then there was the ...
Obama Campaign Pulls Issue Pages From Transition Site
The Caucus —
Keen observers have noticed that the issues pages of the official Obama-Biden transition Web site, change.gov , recently went missing and were replaced by a general statement of priorities. A spokesman for the Obama transition team, Nick Shapiro, who has been fielding inquiries about the disappearance, said that they are “retooling” the site, but did not elaborate further. When it went live last week, the transition Web site included a detailed agenda section with pages for “Revitalizing the Economy,” “Ending the War in Iraq” and “Providing Health Care for All,” among others. Now, those pages are nowhere to be ...
Winston Smith Goes to Work for Obama Camp
Moonbattery —
... In the prescient 1984, Winston Smith's job was to rewrite history to fit current government policy, tossing anything that the State wanted forgotten down the memory hole. In the Internet age, this task is all too easy, as Obama's henchmen have proven by replacing the ominous "agenda" pages from their Change.gov site with vague mush. ...

... on techPresident earlier this week: Change.gov, the Obama-Biden transition site, quietly dropped an "Agenda" section that appeared largely cribbed from campaign materials, replacing it with an oblique 100 words on what's considered important by the incoming Obama-Biden administration. Falone follows up with a quote from transition team spokesperson Nick Shapiro, who said that they were simply "retooling" the quickly-launched site. ...
Where Are the Issues?
Real Clear Politics - TIME.com —
On Obama's " Transition " web site, that is. Several bloggers, including Jim Geraghty , noticed that the issues page on the web site went missing a few days ago. So, for instance, where the site had detailed proposals for health care, foreign policy, the Iraq war, etc., now the page simply reads : The Obama Administration has a comprehensive and detailed agenda to carry out its policies. The principal priorities of the Obama Administration include: a plan to revive the economy, to fix our health care, education, and social security systems, to define a clear path to energy independence, to end ...
Changes at Change.gov: Return of the 'Agenda'
The Caucus —
The section of the Obama-Biden transition homepage detailing the president-elect’s policy proposals that was stripped from the site with little explanation last week, reappeared on Tuesday with some tweaks. Call it the kinder, gentler Change.gov . Gone are references needling the Bush administration for refusing to “tackle health care, education and housing in a manner that benefits the middle class” or for being “one of the most secretive, closed administrations in American history.” Some pages in the “Agenda” portion of the site have been pared down, while others have been expanded. But the most ...

Activism's "Little Black Book"
The Reaction —
By Carol Gee Activists usually are the focus of Wednesday posts here at South by Southwest. What to look for, actions to take, news from the active blogosphere, organizations to join or support, environmental concerns, etc., all have had a place at one time or another. Today the focus is more basic -- how to adjust to the changing circumstances of governance and citizen participation. "Grassroots for Obama." What now? Ed Kilgore at The Democratic Strategist asked, "What To Do With Obama's Army?" ...
