WASHINGTON (AP) - Barack Obama’s aunt, a Kenyan woman who has been quietly living in public housing in Boston, is in the United States illegally after an immigration judge rejected her request for asylum four years ago, The Associated Press has learned.
Come on, tell me that Obama doesn’t know his aunt is an illegal. Isn’t it his duty as a Senator to report any knowledge he has of immigration crimes?
On a less hilarious note (as if a Senator would ever report any crime that might harm him in ...

Call this one a November surprise . I wonder if The Messiah will be forced to return those meager donations she's made to his campaign? I assume so, since they're illegal! Barack Obama's aunt, a Kenyan woman who has been quietly living in public housing in Boston, is in the United States illegally after an immigration judge rejected her request for asylum four years ago, The Associated Press has learned. ... Now comes the AP to report that Ms. Onyango is neither a citizen nor a legal resident of the United States. Indeed, she is the subject of a deportation order that she has successfully ignored. The AP reports that Ms. Onyango is also the beneficiary of "an unusual nationwide directive within Immigrations and Customs Enforcement requiring any deportations prior to Tuesday's election to be approved at least at the level of ICE regional directors." ...

Barack Obama's
long-lost aunt, who is living in poverty, might be deported for being in
the country illegally...and this is supposed to make people not want to
vote for Barack Obama? Republicans think anti-immigrant forces
are going to be rallied by attacking a middle aged woman in her
fifties? This is what's going to swing independents back to McCain?
Reminding people (a) of an actual human face on the receiving end of
anti-immigration policies and (b) that the Democratic candidate is
personally affected by a complicated issue facing many American
families?
The aunt and the smear: The right-wing effort to make an issue of an Obama relative
The Reaction —
By Michael J.W. Stickings I didn't comment on the illegal aunt story over the weekend because the status of one of Obama's aunts isn't important in the context of the election. But allow me to review: So Obama's aunt, Zeituni Onyango, is living in the U.S. illegally, having been denied asylum four years ago. Big deal. Well, it's a big deal fo Ms. Onyango, and I take nothing away from that, and I wish her well, but her status has no bearing on Obama's run for the presidency. The fact is, and I take him at his word here, Obama was not aware of his aunt's ...
