The BRAD BLOG Named as 'Finalist' for 2008 Weblog Award

We hadn't even realized we were in the running, until the list of nominees was announced last night. So we're pleased to find ourselves in very distinguished company for the "Best Liberal Blog" nod:

Best Comic: I admit, it’s the only one I read of the nominees, and I am also spoiled because Chris Muir once drew a flattering cartoon me, but Day by Day is the answer to Doonesbury, and deserves recognition.
Best Liberal Blog: Taylor Marsh.

... , which was winning in its category of Best Liberal Blog. The Confluence is a PUMA blog, which are blogs written by bitter and angry former Hillary Clinton supporters who are still getting used to the idea of having a black man in the White House. (PUMA either stands for "Party Unity My Ass" or "People Unable to Mitigate their Anger," depending on whom you ask.) Now I understand that there are many people who disagree with PUMAs, but haven't they suffered enough? Hillary lost and one day they are going to figure that out. I think we should give them a little time to adjust. Just ...

The BRAD BLOG —
While these things are usually decided by numbers of readers for any particular website --- and as we noted when originally nominated as a Finalist for the 2008 Weblog Awards, that would likely be as far as we'd go, given the huge readership of many of our fellow (excellent) nominees --- we're happy to remind you that you can vote for us anyway.
And you can even do it once every 24 hours! So do it! And do it again! (Yes, in this election, stuffing the ballot box is perfectly legal!)

... here at the castle, it means a lot. It means that people I respect and admire in a community that has accepted me as a member think enough of what I do and how I do it to stop by and give me a pat on the ass. And to those of us out here in the tall grass of the digital exurbs, that exchange -- irrespective of contests and awards -- counts for so very much.
