Neocons Against Juan Cole
Taylor Marsh — ... the gargantuan egos of the Middle East borg hive mind can’t take Cole’s independence. Cole was ahead until the campaign began. I don’t always agree with Cole’s assessments and analysis, but I respect his take regardless, because he’s informed. He’s one of my must reads every day, because he’s a brilliant mind, independent thinker and a voice sorely needed amidst the rabble who rarely have an original thought on the Middle East. Support Juan Cole. UPDATE: Heard from Michael J. Totten, so I thought ...

Say No to Juan Cole
Little Green Footballs — ... Here’s the poll. There are several bloggers in the list who deserve the award far more than Cole. You know what to do: Best Middle East or Africa Blog - The 2008 Weblog Awards. ...

Vote Totten
The Jawa Report — ... Juan Cole is decrying all the neocons he's forced to compete with in the 2008 Weblog Awards for Best Middle East or Africa Blog. He thinks Helena Cobban -- a deranged Hezbollah supporter -- should have been nominated instead of someone like me. He's worked his leftist readers into a tizzy, and they're putting him over the top. I don't really care if I win this award; I won it last year. But Juan Cole certainly doesn't deserve it. ....Don't let Cole win. Go over there and vote for me. By Howie at January 7, 2009 04:39 PM | | l ...

Old King Cole
Belmont Club — ... (without indicating so). Just for the record, below is the original. Juan Cole is entitled to his opinion, but he’s not entitled to force people to read his, and only his, opinion. Michael Totten say: Don’t let Cole win. Go over there and vote for me . Alternately, ...

Stuff that box
Cold Fury — ... . They’re a fine bunch, longtime pals of ours here, and they’re deserving of our best. And while you’re at it, there’s a perfect opportunity to give another longtime friend of ours his due too…with the added bonus of spitting in the eye of a particularly noxious pro-terrorist toad at the same time. Further noxious toad-related items ...

ABC
Neptunus Lex — ... . One is against Israel—business as usual for Cole. The other is promoting his blog in the 2008 Weblog Awards competition (Middle East category), where there are ten finalists (I am one).  ...

Juan Cole Blames Israel for 9/11
Flopping Aces — ... that Israel’s 1996 attack in Qana, Lebanon, inspired Mohammad Atta, who led the Al Qaeda cell on September 11, to write his “martyrdom will.” But Atta’s will, as Martin Kramer points out, was written before the attack in Qana. And it wasn’t a martyrdom will. It was a standard will. But Cole won’t let facts get in the way of blaming Israelis for just about anything, including violence committed by Al Qaeda. Don’t let Cole win. Go over there and vote for me. Go vote. Spread the word. Let Juan Cole ...

The Neoconservative Style & Weblog Awards
Informed Comment — ... Michael J. Totten has surged way ahead in the voting online for the best Middle East weblog. The way he has done this is very instructive and tells us something about how the Neoconservatives always run rings around the American left and leave them with nothing to do but complain about Neoconservative power. ...

2008 Weblog Awards
Winds of Change.NET — ... thought, or beauty. Note that I'm not saying I think Cole is a first-rate mind (I'm doubtful - but I haven't read his real scholarship); just that I try and separate the thinking from the living. In Cole's case, though, the living is problematic enough that I'd really hate to see the guy rewarded. Plus, he's massively wrong on Israel, on the role of 'colonialism' in modern international relations, and on pretty much everything he writes about US politics. So go on over and vote early and often (you can vote every 24 hours).

Support Michael Totten. Defeat Juan Cole.
Stubborn Facts — ... One guy who has proven himself over and over is Michael Totten, who is up for another award for best Mideast or Africa blog. Totten schools him: ...

small dead animals — ... James Joyner . Outside The Beltway is the first blog I happened upon, and it's safe to say SDA wouldn't be here today had it not been for James' inspiration and support. He's nominated in the Best Major Blog category, lets give him a lift if we can.
