Biden: Does He Know Something We Don't Know?
The Washington Note —
(Senator Joe Biden and the masked Senator Chuck Hagel Make Policy Work Fun on Halloween, October 2007)
This strange little piece just popped up at ABC:
ABC News' Z. Byron Wolf and Jennifer Parker reports: As Delaware Sen. Joe Biden was leaving his house in Wilmington this afternoon, he slowed down and said to the gathered news reporters outside his home: "Hey guys, I'm not the guy. See ya."
I don't think Biden knows any more than the rest of America knows on who will be the next VP. As I suspect ...

Biden Source Downplays VP Denial
The Huffington Post | Full News Feed —
How big a deal is today's veepstakes comment from Sen. Joe Biden that "I'm not the guy"?
A figure familiar with Biden's thinking says the remark is hardly consequential.
"That is a comment that he typically gives for people who ask about [the vice presidency]," the source told the Huffington Post. In effect, the source added, this has been the Senator's stock answer to the question for weeks now -- implying that the Tuesday afternoon frenzy that accompanied ABC's new item was overblown.

... That would be a nightmare! Others say the whole pro-choice polling is a head fake. FOX says he got the message that a pro-choice VP wouldn’t be so bright. If so, Tim Pawlenty has never looked better. Then there is some wishful thinking that it could be Sarah Palin. I’ll keep my fingers crossed, but won’t get my hopes up. Or…who is Meg Whitman? Meanwhile, in the Obama camp Biden is getting a lot of buzz. However, Biden says he isn’t the guy! For what its worth, Nader is predicting Obama will pick ...
ABC Says Biden Backtracking on Denial
TalkLeft —
ABC says Biden backtracked a little on his denial that he is Obama's Veep pick. My response: And a shout-out to Jerome at MyDD. It's also looking less likely Hillary or Kathleen Sebelius will be the choide. ABC News says Obama's been using the "he" pronoun today rather than his customary "he or she." I still say it's more likely Kaine than Biden.

Biden says he's not the guy
Daily Kos —
Via MyDD, Biden announces it himself: Hey guys, I'm not the guy. See ya. He and Richardson can now fight over secretary of state. So who's left? Assuming slotted speakers at the DNC are not the Veep, then Kaine is out. He's speaking Thursday night before Gore and Obama. Kerry is speaking Wednesday. Who's that leave? Daschle, Sebelius, and "dark horse". Of course, slotted speakers can always be rescheduled...

The Reaction —
... But will it be Biden? Not according to Biden himself: "Hey guys," he told reporters today, "I'm not the guy. See ya." Of course, such pre-announcement denials are predictable. Maybe he already knows he's not the one, but maybe he's "heard nothing," as ...

Joe Biden tells reporters, "I'm not the guy." 4. Ambinder, one of the reporters we got number 1 above from, says his sources "got skittish" about his report and now won't say whether the Saturday event will be the "unveiling" or whether it could occur earlier. 5. Biden backs off, somewhat, from his earlier denial by saying "I have not spoken to anyone" in ...

Gergen, who rarely had a kind word for Hillary during the primary, now thinks "Hillary Clinton looks better and better," because "He definitely needs a fighter by his side." Political Animal —
Given that there’s very little actual news when it comes to the presidential candidates’ running mates, it seems almost silly to examine (and overly interpret) what little news there is to glean. And yet, the political world wants to talk about little else, so we might as well go over what we’ve got.
Late yesterday, for example, Joe Biden surprised almost everyone when he suggested he wouldn’t be Barack Obama’s pick.
