Boehlert: Drudge unplugged: How his campaign influence has collapsed
I'm not saying that given the choice I wouldn't pick a robust economy and a worry-free global outlook. But circumstances being what they are, I have to say that as the White House campaign hits its final stride under the ominous shadow of the Wall Street meltdown and the deep recession that's ...

Matt Drudge Still Rules Their World
EschatonWhile Boehlert is right that Matt Drudge hasn't been as influential over this election as he has at other times, I don't think it's correct to discount completely his mind control powers over our nation's editors and TV news producers. Those powers still exist, even if he hasn't been using them very effectively recently. Drudge is good at what he does, but he's in part only as good as the stuff they feed him. ...

Olbermann Destroys Drudge
TalkLeft — ... One fairly predictable result of the success garnered by Olbermann (besides making him a lot of money) is the diminishment of Matt Drudge's influence. Eric Boehlert writes: ...

Bottini went through the laundry list of gifts Stevens received, including a $2,700 Brookstone massage chair purchased by a friend, Bob Persons, for his Washington home in 2001. Stevens testified that the chair was a loan, even though it still remains at his Washington home. "What was the term of that loan?” Bottini said. “Zero percent interest for seven years." Drudge who? Not that Atrios agrees. This is sweet, and yes, ...

I can't overstate how encouraging this is. * Speaking of MSNBC, Chris Matthews wants to chat with Michelle Bachmann again. I'm not surprised -- the ratings would be huge. * Conservatives looking for encouraging presidential polls have begun touting online polling of children. Seriously . * Has Drudge's campaign influence evaporated? Eric Boehlert makes a compelling case that it has. * Amusing voting anecdote from an Obama supporter in ...

skippy the bush kangaroo — eric boehlert, @ media matters, on the waning power of the hardly-ever-right wing gossip girls: four years ago, drudge and the right-wing bloggers were at the peak of their political power. today, they're pretty much watching the election pass them by, reduced to the role ...

I can see the moon from my doorstep; I should run NASA
The Sideshow — ... This is your mind on Drudge - Eric Boehlert notes that, though Drudge stopped being able to drive the political debate the moment the Wall Street Emergency became public, the media persist in talking about him like he is the source of all knowledge. ...

What’s Wrong with the Media
N/A — At the very core: “Matt Drudge rules our world.” they wrote.

Well, er
CorrenteMedia Matters: It’s obvious that since Wall Street’s meltdown commenced five weeks ago, and since America’s economic crisis became a tsunami of a news story that’s not only dominated the media landscape, but also irrevocably altered the course of the campaign, the Drudge Report has become largely irrelevant in terms of the setting the news agenda for the White House run. That’s because a story like the unfolding credit crisis [well, er… ] — sober and complicated — knocks Drudge completely out ...
