My VP Debate Reaction
Politics Daily — ... That's a maverick! She adroitly proved that she is by far the best talking points-generator to ever grace a debate stage. She did a fantastic job of memorizing her lines and sending them out regardless of the questions asked. Biden did no harm, although he was corrected on the acceptable oil drilling cheer. It's "drill, baby, drill" not "drill, drill, drill". Also acceptable would have been "drill here, drill now". Another Biden gaffe. Early flash polls from CNN, CBS and MSNBC show Biden with the win. AOL is just about tied at this moment ...

Early Snap Polls: Biden Won Handily
TPM Election Central — The first round of snap polls give the debate to Joe Biden, by sizable margins. CBS polled 473 uncommitted debate-watchers, and found that 46% say Biden won, 21% say Palin won, and 33% say it was a tie. While both candidates saw their images improve, 98% saw Biden as "knowledgeable" after the debate, while only 66% saw Palin as knowledgeable, an admittedly high number, given what folks thought of her before tonight. Meanwhile, CNN's poll of debate-watchers found that far more thought Biden did the best job in the debate (51%) than Palin did (36%). ...

He kept the heat on John McCain--where it should be--and forcefully defended Obama when Palin made ludicrous claims about transferring the surge to Afghanistan or "waving the white flag of surrender" in Iraq. I'm a little surprised to see the talking heads on TV talking about what a great job Palin did. Maybe they just want this race to be closer than it currently looks. But most swing voters, in an instant snapshot, thought otherwise. According to a CBS poll , 46 percent of uncommitted voters who watched the debate tonight thought Joe Biden was ...

Debate polls
Political Animal — DEBATE POLLS.... Everyone who watched last night's debate came to their own conclusions about the candidates' performances, but there's that other question to consider: what did everyone else think? Reiterating a point from last week, snap-polls aren't the most reliable measurements, but for those of us anxious for data, the surveys at least offer a guide to public opinion. CBS News polled undecided voters, 46% of whom thought Biden won, while 33% thought it was a tie, and 21% thought Palin won. Palin got a boost on the question about whether she's "knowledgeable about ...

Jules Crittenden — ... under the debate spotlight as critics predicted. Biden, a 36-year veteran of Capitol Hill, avoided direct exchanges with his GOP rival and opted instead to aim his attacks at the leader of the ticket John McCain. He slammed his senate colleague for being “out of touch” on the economy and wrong-headed on the war. But Palin repeatedly poked Biden, smiling as she called him on focusing on the Bush administration rather than focusing on the future, saying: “Say it ain’t so, Joe.” CBS, More Uncommitted Voters Saw Biden as Winner . ANALYSIS: Vice Presidential Debate
Comments from Left Field — ... out to be more endearing than any of Palin’s rehearsed mentions of being a hockey mom. Palin seemed visibly shaken up after that moment as well. From my view, I think Biden looked ready to take over from day one, and Palin looked like she was doing her best impression of someone who was ready to take over from day one. The big question is if the American people bought that impression or not. To add to this, it’s important to note that in both a CBS snap poll, and the CNN snap poll taken directly after the debate, by ...

Eat it you East coast elitist beltway types!
INSTAPUTZ — Oh: First, I would like to see all the Sarah doubters and detractors in the Beltway/Manhattan corridor eat their words. Eat them. Sarah Palin is the real deal. Five weeks on the campaign trail, thrust onto the national stage, she rocked tonight’s debate. Well. Clearly, all these independents -- in every major poll -- who picked Biden as the winner were Beltway/Manhattan haters.

DownWithTyranny! — Expectations were so low for Sarah Palin's performance last night that the fact that she showed up at all and didn't refer to Dick Cheney as the Speaker of the House or claim that McCain was responsible for The South winning the Civil War has caused delirium in the delusional and deranged fringes of the far right.
