Transition Site Echoes Campaign Pledge of Open Government, By the People

There are just two months and a half months between now and when Barack Obama will take the oath of office as the 44th President of the United States, and without what even seemed to be a pause for a champagne toast, the Obama-Biden '08 campaign shifted into transition mode for what will be the Obama-Biden administration.

Don't Let Daschle's Transparency Talk Fool You
The Next Right —
Americans are going to be busy these next two weeks. Christmas and New Year’s are traditionally a time to spend with family, do last-minute shopping and take a break from the strains of work -- and apparently fix America’s health care system.
That’s right, Tom Daschle wants you to talk about health care over the holidays. President-elect Barack Obama’s nominee for secretary of Health and Human Services has given the country two weeks, including Christmas Day, to provide input on how to improve health care in America.
Daschle doesn’t care if you meet at home, the ...

From the time Sen. Barack Obama announced his candidacy, I wrote and wrote about his record on criminal justice issues, particularly with respect to our drug laws. I didn't like what I learned and said so repeatedly. While his policy positions and Hillary's were quite similar, the difference between them, I thought, was that he had spent a lot of time thinking about these issues and legislating on them as a state senator in Illinois. I felt, rightly or wrongly, that we least had a chance with Hillary to convince her on a few points since she hadn't paid a great deal of attention to ...
