Eschaton —
And the absurdity continues. Interviewed Sunday on CNN, Mr. Warren seemed surprised to learn that Mr. McCain was not in the building during the Obama interview. A spokeswoman for Mr. McCain said he was en route to the church. Nicolle Wallace, a spokeswoman for Mr. McCain, said on Sunday night that Mr. McCain had not heard the broadcast of the event while in his motorcade and heard none of the questions. “The insinuation from the Obama campaign that John McCain, a former prisoner of war, cheated is outrageous,” Ms. Wallace said.

McCain Not in “Cone of Silence” During First Half Hour of Warren Forum
PoliGazette —
CNN (relevant part of interview at about 1:20) and the New York Times are reporting that John McCain was not in the “cone of silence” that Rev. Rick Warren suggested he would be in for part of the time of the hour Barack Obama took questions from the pastor. As you can see in the CNN interview, Rev. Warren admits as much. It turns out that McCain’s motorcade was stuck in traffic and was about half and hour late in arriving to Saddleback Church.
The story has spread throughout the news media and blogosphere, and as you can see, it has raised questions on whether McCain or his staffers had access to the questions being ...

McCain Had Advantage Over Obama For Saddleback Forum

McCain: I Don't Cheat!
The Stump —
The McCain camp is outraged at the suggestion that they may have cheated by not sequestering the candidate in Rick Warren's "cone of silence" during Obama's Saddleback appearance on Saturday night. Their over-the-top reaction is a little ridiculous. On the other hand, McCain has a special obsession with honor generally and cheating specifically. In his first memoir, Faith of My Fathers, he writes of his father's genuinely angry reaction after his mother jokingly accused him of cheating at gin rummy: "He reacted so strongly to the accusation, with such evident distress over the charge, admonishing her to 'never say such a ...

b) the man who single-handedly legalized torture after pretending to stand up against it
c) a man who feigned outrage about his friend John Kerry’s “botched joke”
d) a former prisoner of war
e) a man cheated on his wife
Jerry Weissman: Saddleback II: Was there a "Cone of Silence"?
Politics on HuffingtonPost.com —
My post earlier today drew a sharp distinction between how Barack Obama and John McCain presented in an encounter on Saturday at the Saddleback Church in California. Essentially, Obama answered questions posed at him haltingly, while McCain responded crisply.
The format of the encounter was to have each man spend an hour responding to the same set of questions. Obama went first by coin toss. To level the playing field, McCain was ostensibly kept in what moderator Rick Warren called a "cone of silence."
Now it turns out that McCain was not in that cone. According to Kathrine Seelye's report in the New York Times, McCain was not in ...
