Barry2 Mr.Harper has manifested this crisis on purpose, he had 7 weeks to provide a economic package and he did nothing. He threw gasoline on the fire when he was going stop funding to Politicial parties during elections. Mr.Harper just exposed his hidden agenda, to bankrupt the opposition parties by going to the polls as much as he can and if he gets a majority he will cut off all funding except donations. Donation refunds is a bigger Government expense than the 30 million proposed to withdraw. Even in America they have two strong parties. I guess this is the way they do politics in Alberta.

Harper on the Hot Seat
Matthew Yglesias —
... led by the plurality party. This can be a stable situation if conditions are right. But at the moment, the alternative parties — the centrist Liberals, the left-wing New Democrats, and the separatist Bloc Québéquois — are all to the left of the Conservatives on the main issues. So in principle they ought to be able to find a way to agree on a Liberal-led coalition that all will prefer to a Conservative minority government. At the moment, it seems they’re still having some trouble ironing out the details but if they manage to reach an agreement that’ll be ...
It'll be Dion
Shadow of the Hegemon —
Looks like the Liberals have figured out where they're going. Dion will be PM, not Ignatieff. I'd still say this was pretty inevitable. Neither Rae nor Ignatieff nor LeBlanc (nor any other potential leadership contender, and there may be several now that 24 Sussex is the prize) could possibly grant the other one the massive advantage that would be de-facto incumbency. Dion was the only sensible choice. And I still suspect that he won't actually be a bad one.

Canada’s opposition tries a coup, of sorts
Hot Air » Top Picks —
... In America, elections have consequences. In Canada … not so much . Despite losing the last national elections to Stephen Harper’s Conservatives, the other three parties have agreed on a ruling coalition that will wrest control of Canadian government from the party with a plurality of seats for the first time in its history. Canadian voters who thought they’d endorsed Harper may discover that they’ve gotten a bait-and-switch: The Liberals and New Democrats signed an agreement on Monday to form an unprecedented coalition government, with a written pledge of support from the ...
Matt Lewis: Coup in Canada...
Townhall.com Blog's TownHall Blog —
This is, perhaps, the best political theatre I've ever seen -- and proof that you CAN steal power in a modern democracy. Just two months after leading his party to the most humiliating defeat in it's history, Canadian Liberal Party leader Stephane Dion is attempting to pull a backroom deal to seize the Prime Minister's office WITHOUT an election . ...
