Fraudulent Job Data Released By Federal Government
Boots and Sabers —
... Kudos to the MJS for getting on the story of widespread fraud in the government’s job report . A stimulus job report that says more than 10,000 jobs were saved or created in Wisconsin is rife with errors, double counting and inflated numbers based more on satisfying federal formulas than creating real jobs, a Journal Sentinel review has found. In one case, five jobs were mistakenly listed as 50 - and then counted twice. In another, pay raises to workers were listed as saving more than 100 jobs. And in another, jobs were listed as saved even though the money had not been ...

... shortfalls.
It appears the state treasury -- not students or school districts -- was the prime beneficiary of the education stimulus jackpot in Illinois. In great measure, funds simply were used to replace general aid payments already owed to local districts by the state. That gave Gov. Pat Quinn breathing room in his struggle to rein in a whopping two-year budget deficit of more than $10 billion.
There is more. Today's Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports:

... The credibility of the Obama administration on stimulus accountability continues to crash today, this time in Wisconsin. The state’s largest newspaper calls the numbers of jobs “saved or created” not just inaccurate, but “wildly inflated.” The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel picks up the trail blazed by the Associated Press and discovers that the numbers exist only as a product of an artificial White House calculus: A stimulus job report that says more than 10,000 jobs were saved or created in Wisconsin is rife with errors, double counting and inflated numbers based more on ...

... promises. Obviously, it was easy for President Obama to make promises about how we would be able to see how stimulus dollars were spent and how transparent this administration was going to be. Turns out, in practice, the administration and its bureaucrats on the ground in the states are as bad as their predecessors.
Here are three stories that add to the pile of evidence about how totally unreliable the job "created or saved" data on Recovery.gov is.
First, this article in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on overreporting of jobs number in ...

... has contributed to a $1.4 trillion federal budget deficit this year. In the face of these irrefutable facts, the Obama Administration and leaders in Congress continue claim that they've "created or saved" millions of jobs. They argue that things would have been worse had Congress failed to shovel trillions of dollars out the door. Yet again, facts continue to tell a different story. The data used to back up these claims has come under widespread scrutiny. According to an independent Milwaukee Journal Sentinel analysis , a White House report citing that "640,000 jobs were ...
