I agree, people shouldn't let polls or the media influence their vote. This article exposes a bigger issue, the overeager and often misinformed TV and internet news outlets that want to be the first to report a story without getting all the facts.

No mater what time zone you live in, or what the "experts" say, go to the polls next week and cast your vote, it's your right.

Dissecting Leftism — ... enthusiastically marking the straight Republican column. I would like to have joined the line Tuesday outside the polling place in Ingram, where I've been registered the past few years. But I will be in New York, part of the vast horde analyzing exit polls, dissecting returns, and pontificating on consequences. I'll thoroughly enjoy myself that night, and probably feel guilty the next morning. But this year's 728 national polls and the thousands of state polls made me do it. A word on polls
Jonathan Martin's Blog — Karl Rove's op-ed on polls this morning in the WSJ reminds me of something I've been meaning to write for a few days. I often get emails asking why I'm not posting this poll favorable to Obama or that poll that shows McCain closing.    Thanks to Drudge's cherry-picking, these are increasingly coming from Republicans who are looking for a glimmer of hope in what is shaping up to be a tough year. First off, I'm not very interested in national polls at this point.  Yes, they can be broadly instructive to show trends.   And, indeed, ...

What’s the Deal With All the Polls?
The Sundries Shack — If it seems to you that there have been a lot more polls this year than in elections past, it’s because there have been . There has been an explosion of polls this presidential election. Through yesterday, there have been 728 national polls with head-to-head matchups of the candidates, 215 in October alone. In 2004, there were just 239 matchup polls, with 67 of those in October. At this rate, there may be almost as many national polls in October of 2008 as there were during the entire year in 2004. It’s no wonder that so many of us feel baffled by the sheer blinding number of ...

Rove Cautions: Polls Can Be Wrong
Political Punch — ... Rove Cautions: Polls Can Be Wrong October 30, 2008 11:08 PM In the Wall Street Journal, former presidential aide Karl Rove walks us through some recent historical history about polls being wrong. As for this election, Rove writes, "The last national poll that showed Mr. McCain ahead came out Sept. 25 and the 232 polls since then have all shown Mr. Obama leading. Only one time in the past 14 presidential elections has a candidate won the popular vote and the Electoral College after trailing in the Gallup Poll the week before the election: Ronald Reagan in 1980."But the question ...
