Edwards
I never much liked John Edwards as a politician...and I guess we now know that he's a heel as a human being, too. But that doesn't mean his tawdry personal life is any of my concern. Consensual sex among adults isn't something that we in the media should bother about, except in extraordinary circumstances (say, the President is sharing a girlfriend with a Mafia Don). I thought the media ...

TIME's Joe Klein on McCain's adultery
AMERICAblog News| A great nation deserves the truth — Unfortunately, I think Klein got confused. The adultery in question is not McCain and Vickey Iseman - or at least it's not entirely the speculation over that possible relationship. The adultery in question is the actual adultery that John McCain has basically admitted he committed with Cindy while still married to his first wife. That is not adultery that was denied by McCain or Cindy, to the best of my knowledge. From TIME's blog Swampland: Commenter Ralph wants to know: Why is Edwards's adultery a problem for Obama, while McCain's adultery is ...

Saturday reading: After Edwards
Ben Smith's Blog — Sam Stein, from whom we first heard of Rielle Hunter, empties his notebook. A MOMocrats blogger, and ex-Edwards supporter, repudiates him. Joe Klein offers a dose of sanity. Hunter's sister wants Edwards to take the DNA test. Dems debate their platform. Ryan Grim wonders if the GOP can really get away with mocking scholarship kid Obama. R.I.P. Bernie Mac. And McCain stops speaking to the press.

New Obama Ad Hits McCain For Beltway Embraces
Firedoglake — ... finance questions just got even murkier for the Maverick's tainted money trail.  McCain's also flipflopped on tobacco policy (hi, Charlie Black!), on foreign policy, and any number of other issues this week, prompting The Long Goodbye to propose a "six degrees of separation" from a McCain flipflop and which lobbyist on his bloated campaign staff had a hand in the fetid pie. Ooooh, Grand Ole Party games! Guess that explains why Joe Klein's gone so sour on McCain of late: ...
