Final Predictions
The Talent Show —
I don’t exactly have a great track record when it comes to predictions, but my feeling is that the Obama campaign has the wind at their backs right now and that will end up pushing him past the finish line in all of the major swing states. Here’s the map as I see it :
My guess is that Obama will not only win the states that every other guess is giving him (FL, PA, OH, VA), but states like Montana, Indiana, Missouri, North Dakota, and South Carolina, where I see a wave of national support making the crucial difference ...
Conservative Wishful Thinking
Daily Kos —
... in a WaPo op-ed engages in one of the more thoughtful examples of Republican and conservative wishful thinking about the election, Sarah Palin and the future of the electorate. Most of the wishful thinking by other conservatives is just nonsense. The recognition of the electoral vote shellacking, the dancing in the streets all over the world over a Republican loss ...

... In the Presidential election, Obama currently leads the popular vote 52.69% to 46.01%. His margin has been steadily increasing over the last nine days, and will continue to do so until the final numbers are certified later this month. The best part is that McCain is now below 46.00%, and could still, quite realistically, fall to 45.9% in counts that round to the nearest tenth of a percent. I'm still hoping for the overall margin can reach 7.00%, although there are now very few votes still uncounted and / or left to recount. Obama's raw vote margin is currently 8,538,623. Another neat goal ...
Democrats 2004 vs. Republicans 2008

... Party. By contrast, right now the Democratic Party has a 62%-31% favorable rating according to the latest CNN poll, while Republicans are at 38%-54%. While Democrats were tied with Republicans in partisan self-identification four years ago, and actually still polled more favorably than Republicans in the abstract, Republicans face gaping deficits in both categories at the end of 2008.
Presidential results: Barack Obama currently leads the popular vote by 6.80% and rising, which is much larger than Bush's 2.46% victory four years ago. Further, Obama ...
