RedState Endorses Cantor for Vice President
News —
... RedState, one of the most influential conservative blogs, is backing Rep. Eric Cantor (R-Va.) to become the Republican vice presidential nominee. "Cantor's selection would be welcomed by conservatives, applauded by most moderates, and inspire confusion and revealingly insulting attacks from the left," the blog's editors wrote on Wednesday. "It would elevate a strong young voice for principled conservative reform to the national stage, not merely for political gain, but because he deserves the platform. And it would cement McCain's election as something that is not just a ...
Matt Lewis: Eric Cantor Gets Blog Buzz ...
Townhall.com Blog's TownHall Blog —
There's been a lot of buzz today in the rightosphere about the prospects of Eric Cantor for veep. (Every day, it seems, there is a flavor of the day -- today it's Cantor.) I like the idea of Cantor (young, conservative, Jewish, House Member), but my experience having been on a few McCain conference calls with him has been that he doesn't quite live up to all the hype. He's a bit bland, in my estimation. But who knows ... maybe you don't want a veep who is too exciting???

... proclaims at The Corner, saying sources tell of the meeting. But news of the pick could come out too soon, York says, predicting it will surely leak tomorrow, when Obama dominates media coverage accepting the Democratic nomination at Invesco Field. Cantor, meanwhile, gets the nod from RedState’s directors, who say he’d fare well in a debate against Democratic VP nominee Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.). The latest ad out of McCain’s camp includes a useful quote that should be harped on for the rest of the campaign, Hot Air’s ...

Hello, Florida!
Byron York reminds us that Lieberman doesn't bowl on shabbos -- meaning that he's probably not the pick for a big Saturday veep rally.

POLITICS: Cantor for VP
Baseball Crank —
... (as you can see, among the Contributors there we have a major divergence not only over the right VP pick but over McCain's odds in this election - and yes, that's former FEC Commissioner Brad Smith taking the view that McCain is a lost cause). I ultimately came to the conclusion that McCain should pick Virginia Congressman Eric Cantor, a view I and the other Directors of the site formally endorsed here. Obviously the chief consideration is that Cantor's the most conservative of the remaining plausible candidates, and he's smart and articulate. Cantor wasn't my ideal choice - ...
Cantor
A Chequer-Board of Nights and Days —
Like the RedState Directors , I join in endorsing Eric Cantor for the Vice Presidential nomination of the Republican Party. Cantor has experience in Congress that Barack Obama just cannot match. He has tremendous policy smarts and the ability to communicate those smarts to the public at large; he is a policy wonk with a gift for relating to people and explaining to them how policy will affect their lives. Since there are those who continue to wonder whether John McCain will show the appropriate degree of respect for conservative views, Cantor's selection would show that McCain ...
Cantor Chosen for VP! (By a Blog)
Capitol Briefing —
Cantor Chosen for VP! (By a Blog) Three news items: 1) John McCain has picked a running mate and may announce/leak the choice tonight. 2) McCain has admitted he is computer "illiterate." Both of which make it unlikely that he will be much swayed by ... 3) "The Directors" of the conservative site Red State have endorsed Rep. Eric Cantor (Va.) as the best choice for VP. Why Cantor? "While a young man, Cantor has served in federal office twice as long as Barack Obama -- and was a member of leadership when Obama was still ...
