Peta Mary44, I agree Michael Steele would be great as the RNC chair. BUT, that does not mean that the RNC can't have Newt as a member.
As far as I can tell the whole RNC should be replaced. They have been a complete failure. Same with Congressional leadership (if you can call them leaders?)
Newt has the prescription for what needs to be done and how, but Michael woud put a new younger face on the party (yes, youth matters) and actually can communicate fairly well.
As opposed to GWB, who like me, can't put two word together.
