No one knows much about her, but she’s seen as “one of us” among evangelicals, primarily because of her abortion politics, which are well outside the political center (she opposes abortion in cases of rape and incest for instance). The celebration, then, isn’t over the ascendance of a true pro-life candidate, but over the selection of “one of us” (finally) to the ticket.
