It follows him through his recruitment, induction, training, deployment to Iraq, and finally his return to Denver in August 2009. And it's a warts and all portrayal - Ian was kind of a screwup and made some dumb choices along the way, but he made it through training and honorably served a combat deployment to Iraq.
