Stewart/Cramer Kerfuffle Continues
Politics Daily — Filed under: Economy, Humor, Media, Viral VideoJon Stewart's epic rant against CNBC and its anchors and commentators, including Jim Cramer, burned up the internet last week. Not surprisingly, there's been some fallout. The "Mad Money" host claims that Stewart took a clip out of context, purporting to show that Cramer was recommending investors buy Bear Stearns stock a week before the company went under. On the "Daily Show" last night Stewart conceded that may have been the case, except for one little thing. Cramer actually did recommend investors buy Bear Stearns stock two weeks before the company went under. Oops. ...

Stewart knocks CNBC again; Cramer responds
Michael Calderone's Blog — Jim Cramer, one of the "little guys," continued his back and forth with Jon Stewart this morning on "Today." Last Wednesday, Stewart went after all of CNBC, with Cramer responding Monday on MainStreet.com. That only provoked Stewart to continue last night on the Daily Show, leading Meredith Vieira to seek Cramer's reaction today. .cc_box a:hover .cc_home{background:url('http://www.comedycentral.com/comedycentral/video/assets/syndicated-logo-over.png') !important;}.cc_links a{color:#b9b9b9;text-decoration:none;}.cc_show a{color:#707070;text-decoration:none;}.cc_title a{color:#868686;text-decoration:none;}.cc_links ...

Thoughts on Jim Cramer vs. Jon Stewart
MoJo Blog Posts: mojo — There is a serious feud ongoing between Jon Stewart and Jim Cramer. Stewart, as you probably know, used the Daily Show and other venues to slam the financial TV networks in general and CNBC specifically. The Mad Money host, who has become famous by instructing viewers to buy and sell individual stocks in a carnival barker style, came under especially harsh criticism. Cramer then did a media tour to defend himself; you can see a video summarizing that here and read a column Cramer wrote on the subject here. Stewart responded; you can see that here. Carmer's primary argument in all this is that Stewart is taking video ...

Reading the entrails
Lawyers, Guns and Money — CNBC stock "analyst" Jim Cramer is getting lots of well-deserved mockery for giving some spectacularly bad investment advice, and then compounding his mistakes by denying them. Yglesias points out that the whole business Cramer and his ilk are involved in is a contemporary version of entrail reading. Take this wholly typical "20 stocks to buy now" column. Consider what needs to be assumed to make taking this guy's advice worthwhile. (1) All the information and analysis performed by the stock picker isn't already imputed in the stock's current price; and (2) The stock picker knowledge of the various industries and firms he's analyzing ...

The Jester Speaks the Truth
The Republic of T. — I won’t bemoan how the failure of media to do its job necessitates his role. I will simply give thanks that, in the absence of reliable media criticism, at least we have Jon Stewart — making us laugh while telling us truths that are far from funny. By now, you’ve heard about and seen his now-legendary Santelli-inspired CNBC takedown. .cc_box a:hover .cc_home{background:url('http://www.comedycentral.com/comedycentral/video/assets/syndicated-logo-over.png') !important;}.cc_links a{color:#b9b9b9;text-decoration:none;}.cc_show a{color:#707070;text-decoration:none;}.cc_title a{color:#868686;text-decoration:none;}.cc_links ...

It has been called to my attention that when I speak about the issue of ‘Voter ID’ I really mean ‘Photo ID’. Most, if not all, states require that a voter show some form of ID when they go to the polls to vote. That is a requirement that makes sense and the ID can be in the form of a driver’s ...
