Honeymoon? Not Very Likely
Daily Pundit —

And another reader emails: “Much though I dislike continuing a highly charged partisan atmosphere, Donald has it right in this case. Democrats cannot and should not expect Obama to receive any sort of honeymoon from McCain voters this cycle based on their behavior, and as I’ve often heard you say, don’t reward behavior that you don’t want to encourage.” Yes, the Angry Left schtick seems to have worked for the Dems, which suggests that if the GOP finds itself out of power it will emulate it. ...

"I'm Willing to Give President Obama the Same Fair Chance as the Left and MSM Gave President Bush"
Ace of Spades HQ —
"I'm Willing to Give President Obama the Same Fair Chance as the Left and MSM Gave President Bush" Indeed. Actions have consequences. If Obama wins, the left (and media) will declare that now is the time to rise above partisanship. I will answer the same way they did to Bush's similar call in January 2001. Posted by: Ace at ...
Goodbye the the "Honeymoon" Concept Regarding the Presidency
Little Miss Attila —
Goodbye the the "Honeymoon" Concept Regarding the Presidency From Glenn Reynolds' mail bag ; a missive he finds "depressing" I consider myself a libertarian/conservative. Like many people of that bent, I was uncomfortable with Bush when he was nominated. But Al Gore's increasingly-erratic behavior during the 2000 election made me hope Bush [would win]. Once Bush won, and it became clear that the Florida democrats were trying to steal the election, I became something of a Bush loyalist. Throughout his first term, I took note of all the really horrible things that were said ...
Why is this email "greatly depressing"?
All —
Please God that there are millions like him:
I'm no fan of McCain , but as I dislike Obama (and love Palin), I'll be pulling the lever for McCain in November.
This is surely small of me, but if Obama wins, I plan on giving him as much of a chance as the Democrats gave George Bush. I
will gleefully forward every paranoid anti-Obama rumor that I see, along with YouTube footage of his verbal missteps. I
will laugh and email heinous anti-Obama photoshop jobs, and maybe even learn photoshop myself to create some. I'll buy ...
The Depressing New Politics?
Dean's World —
An interesting discussion.
I do generally agree that watching a man whom I consider to be unusually honest, idea-oriented, kind, and straightforward for a politician be crapped on for 8 years has been painful and caused a lot of resentment in me as well. Although I try to be philosophical about these things, and will try pretty hard not to be as nasty to a President Obama as I’ve seen the shrieking Bush haters be toward Bush. We’ll see what we see I guess. The cold anger I felt in 2004 has more or less mellowed, and while I’m still not happy with ...
IF ELECTED, OBAMA WILL BE MY PRESIDENT
Right Wing Nut House —
Glenn Reynolds received an email yesterday that he termed “depressing.” Upon reading it, I agree with him. The correspondent starts by identifying himself as a libertarian who supported George Bush until “Bush fatigue” set in recently. But what depressed Reynolds (and what should concern all of us) is how this gentleman would react to an Obama presidency: This is surely small of me, but if Obama wins, I plan on giving him as much of a chance as the Democrats gave George Bush. I will gleefully forward every paranoid anti-Obama rumor that I see, along with YouTube footage of his ...
For It Before He Was Against It!

Two days ago, Putz wrote: Personally, if Obama's elected I intend to give him a chance and weigh him on his actions, not his party. Noble! Naturally, he's already backing away from this. New spin: "If Obama gets in, I and my kerning compatriots will see him as illegitimate: I think the media tilt, and the ACORN controversy (which are connected, of course), will be for a lot of people on the right what the Florida recount was for a lot of people on the left. Whatever gets you through the night, ...
Responding to an Obama Presidency

... narrow margins in states where ACORN has committed voter fraud, then I think questioning whether that fraud had something to do with his win would be a fair question to ask, since that fraud disenfranchises those of us who follow the rules. Remember, Obama gave $800,000 to that organization. Any evidence showing ACORN's illegal actions helped him win would by its very existence bring up questions of whether Obama won fairly.
Even if Obama wins fair and square, the temptation to react like this will be very strong. This is surely small of me, but if Obama ...
