Helping out Leno and Letterman
QandO — Over at Instapundit, I saw a reference to this study on how TV humorists are treating the major presidential candidates. Comedy Central is the equal-opportunity choice, making fun of all sides about equally. That increases my respect for Jon Stewart another notch. Leno and Letterman don’t seem to have found their mojo on going after Obama. Perhaps it’s because the guy comes across as pretty humorless, so he’s just not that easy to make fun of. On an apparently unrelated note, Insty’s link just above that one ...

It’s official: Late-night TV comics love Obama
Hot Air » Top Picks — ... Andrew Malcolm provides a biting finale to his report on the imbalance of late-night television comics when it comes to the presidential election.  A study coming out today shows that the major late-night shows make a habit of skewering John McCain but give a pass to Barack Obama.  Obama only got ridiculed 169 times by the broadcast network shows, while McCain was the butt of the joke almost twice as often — 328 times.  Interestingly, the most balanced presentation came from Comedy Central, which combined the Daily Show and Colbert Report to come within six jokes of a dead ...

The Early Word: Obama's V.P. Want Ad
The Caucus — ... that the authorities removed “razor wire” — atop one area to avoid comparisons to a domestic Gitmo. Humor The L.A. Times’s Top of the Ticket blog previews a new study by the Center for Media and Public Affairs. President Bush remains the top joke target, and Senator McCain also is a popular one. Mr. Obama, on the other hand, isn’t laughed at as much. ...

Late Night Comedians Bash McCain, Lay Off Obama
NewsBusters.org - Exposing Liberal Media Bias — Apparently, the presidential candidacy of Barack Obama is no laughing matter. Mimicking their so-called serious counterparts in the so-called serious press, late night comedians have comedically bashed John McCain far more this year than the junior senator from Illinois. So says a new study about to be released by the Center for Media and Public Affairs as reported by the LA Times Thursday (h/t Hot Air): A hilarious new study of late-night political jokes, due to be released later today, finds the network comedians clearly avoiding ...

Fallout from Retreat
The Anchoress — ... she said. “And the Russians said again, ‘Are you going to the American side?’” “So the Russians view you as the American side, even though there are no Americans here.” “Yes,” she said. “Because our way is for democracy.” Senator John McCain may have overstated things a bit when, shortly after the war started, he said, “We are all Georgians now.” But apparently even rank-and-file Russian soldiers view the Georgians and Americans as allies. 8) How not interesting or surprising is this ? And another ...

Hillary Clinton, who dropped out of the presidential race and much political news in early June, still drew more than twice as many attempted yuk lines (382) as Obama. On Comedy Central, Obama and McCain were close, with 207 and 201, respectively, while Clinton and Bush nearly tied at 179 and 177, respectively. The ongoing joke with McCain of course is about ...

Harry Reid hates John McCain
RedState: Conservative News and Community — (Note to Barry: I hope you've got room under that bus of yours.) John McCain has made some powerful enemies of late, none more so that the majority leader of the United States Senate, Dingy Harry. That's Senator Harry Reid (D-Nevada) to those of you who respect the man. His hometown paper, the Las Vegas Review-Journal , asked Reid about Joe Lieberman, and Dingy Harry defended his old friend: "He has a close personal relationship with John McCain. I don't fully understand why he does," said Reid, who said Lieberman called ...

“Hussein’s MSM Flotsam And Jetsam” - Part 2
Pat Dollard | Young Americans — ... Meanwhile, the Messiah’s church choir of comedians continue to sing the songs of The Old Fart Idiot McCain, and silently worship “The One” from their stages and studios. And not to be outdone in all of this palm waving, the church bulletin of “The One’ (as DRUDGE is reporting) has graced their cover with his image a “Lucky 7″ times in one year … as opposed to twice for McCain. ...

“Oh, that mean, snarky, divisive REPUBLICAN woman!”
Flopping Aces — ... admitting to the bruising they received, Democrats would do well to simply smile and not draw more undue attention to Senator Obama and his paper-thin resume. And the Senator himself would do well to not making this presidential race about skin….. …..as in: being too thin-skinned to take a joke. It’s a way of vetting him for late-night comedians, should he become, God-forbid, 44th president of the U.S…not that he has anything to fear from them, anyway. Obama’s apostles would do well to read this post to the Obamessiah, for ...

Thou Shalt Not Mock
Weekly Standard Blog — The comedy world's aversion to mocking President Obama is well documented. But this morning I heard a new radio ad for the local fast-food chain Jerry's. For years, Jerry's has run a radio campaign based on the idea that the founder, Jerry, is having little conversations with various celebrities, whose voices and tics are impersonated with Caliendo-like precision and mockery. The ads are particularly well-done, with clever writing and dead-on voice acting. A constant in the campaign has been ads mocking the president--Clinton and ...
