The Credulous Jimmy
The Corner on National Review Online — Thursday, January 08, 2009 [image] The Credulous Jimmy [Steve Hayward] Ever since Israel launched its offensive against Hamas in Gaza I've been waiting for Jimmy Carter's inevitable op-ed blaming and deploring Israel for defending itself. It showed up this morning in the Washington Post , a few days late, but Jimmy is in his 80s now. All Hamas wants, says the Credulous Jimmy, ...

Carter on Gaza
Matthew Yglesias — ... I thought I should recommend Jimmy Carter’s op-ed on Gaza. But of course as everyone knows Carter is a raging, Jew-hating, Israel-bashing bigot. And ultimately this illustrates what I think is the inconvenient truth about US involvement in the Israeli-Arab conflict, namely that to do much good you need to be willing to take the hits. Anti-Semite Blames Israel For Defensive War
Rhymes With Right — carterhamas.jpg Why on earth the Washington Post would publish a piece by this disgrace is beyond me – his is the worst presidency (for either foreign or domestic policy) of my lifetime. And given Jimmy Carter’s clear history of anti-Semitism when it comes to dealing with Israel, I would think that rational folks would consider him effectively discredited on the matter. His conclusion – the entire conflict is Israel’s fault for failing to give into all of Hamas’ demands.
