DAY'S END ROUNDUP

... is becoming a more and more competitive money race between Obama and McCain. And the Bush Administration embracing "aspirational timetables" puts McCain in a very uncomfortable spot, Satyam at Think Progress writes. Cernig at Crooks and Liars says the issue plays right into Obama's hands as all the Illinois Democrat had to do was release a statement declaring "it's time to succeed in Iraq." Sorry to interrupt the VP discussion and debate party, but on to more important things ...
I will be going to the Minneapolis a week from now as part of the Alaska delegation, and I can't be more excited for my first convention. As I think about all of the different delegations I'll be meeting, I realized that many of our counterparts inside the Beltway on other blogs have made bald assertions and claims about the differents races in different states without knowing the real details of the political environments in those states.
I have written a couple of posts on the importance of building a GOP farm team, identifying targeted ...

It’s Biden! The Fun Begins
Pajamas Media —
The media and blogosphere is exploding with reporting and reaction to the Democratic VP pick. PJM rounds it up. [image] Taylor Marsh : “If not Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden is absolutely the next best pick in my view. No doubt, many will be fueled to act out on this, but they’re not thinking of the larger goal.” Riehl World View : “I can’t believe Obama doesn’t feel like he’s sitting on a keg of dynamite with Biden - just hoping he doesn’t go off.” CNN : A flurry of activity at the Biden house. Obama Picks a Bro: It's Biden
Tennessee Guerilla Women —
It's official. Obama picks Joe Biden for Vice President. And there goes the last chance for party unity. Hillary Rodham Clinton, the candidate who earned 18 million votes, was not even vetted. We're sure Biden's 200 voters are simply thrilled. The rest of us, well, just call us marginalized and invisible. Back in the 1990s, Biden was the leader of the pack of 14 white male senators who conducted the Clarence Thomas-Anita Hill hearings. The committee of 14 men threw every sexist stereotype in the book at Anita Hill. Like Hillary, Joe Biden voted to authorize the war in Iraq, but that's so not a ...
Early Obama-Biden Analysis
Wizbang —
I know it is early, but here is a bit of analysis of the Obama-Biden ticket. (The first is from several days ago on the possibility of a Biden pick). Jack M. at Ace of Spades : Now, aside from Joe Biden himself, is there anyone that thinks that Biden brings much of anything to this ticket? Aside from hair-plugs and an over-inflated sense of self-worth, that is. Oh, and possibly a dog-eared copy of Neil Kinnock's autobiography... Conventional wisdom holds that Obama is perceived as weak on foreign affairs and international issues. Biden, by virtue of his time spent on the Senate Foreign relations Committee, and his high profile "fact finding missions" ...
So . . . Biden
RedState: Conservative News and Community —
I admit it. I signed up for the text message and the
e-mail. I got the e-mail at 3:50 am on Saturday morning and did not
read it--as I was asleep. I never got the text message.
It would appear that there were problems with the transmission of
the text message. Not exactly the best way to show the campaign
organization's competence in the prelude to the rollout of the
eventual Democratic Vice Presidential nominee.
If that was the only problem with the introduction of Joe Biden
as Barack Obama's running mate, the Obama campaign would be able to
rest easy. But despite various hosannas that have been offered in
response to ...
