Peter Baker names Kathleen Sebelius the frontrunner to head HHS.
Meanwhile, I can't help noticing that Adolfo Carrion was not named to head the Office of Urban Policy today, despite a definitive story this morning that he finally would be. (The source for the story, unless Tommy Vietor spends more time talking to the Daily News Bronx Bureau Chief than I'd realized, was not the White House.) The White House press office didn't respond to a question about the (non-)appointment, and last I'd heard was that the Bronx had brought along some non-fatal vetting challenges, but that he was expected to get the job.
Still, puzzling.

HHS Update: Sebelius?
The Atlantic Politics Channel —
The New York Times reports this morning that Gov. Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas has emerged as the leading candidate to be nominated for Secretary of Health and Human Services. White House officials insist on caution when using the term "leading." But of the two candidates known to be vetted (the other is Tennessee's Phil Bredesen), only Sebelius has yet to pooh-pooh her own chances.
