: Let's Outflank Lieberman
Re: Let's Outflank Lieberman ( 2.00 / 3 ) He ran on caucusing with the Dems. He ought to be offered nothing. If the GOP wants to obstruct in the face of a historic mandate then procedural options are available to fight them. The American people would certainly be behind anything that moves ...

Letters to Harry Reid and calls to Democratic Senators: Joe Must Go
AMERICAblog News| A great nation deserves the truth — Urge Senator Reid to show Joe Lieberman the door. Josh Orton wants us to outflank Lieberman with his Democratic colleagues, too: Lieberman was hoping to privately lobby his colleagues to save him. But with the curtain pulled back, we can lobby the same potential Lieberman allies. And now they'll have to choose between personal loyalty to Joe and doing the right thing - with the whole world watching. If they hear from enough of us, there's no way Joe keeps his position of power. So let's get to the phones. And the emails. The ...

Liberal Bloggers Pressuring Dem Senators To Vote Lieberman Out
TPM Election Central — As I reported here yesterday, Senator Harry Reid is mulling an interesting option with regard to Joe Lieberman's fate: He's considering having the Dem caucus vote at their next meeting on whether Lieberman should be allowed to keep his plum committee chairmanship. It's not precisely clear yet how that mechanism would work. What's clear is that it would put Lieberman's fate in the hands of his Dem Senate colleagues. Now liberal bloggers are pre-emptively mounting a campaign to pressure those Senators to come out against Lieberman, should this vote happen. MyDD's Josh Orton, a former Senate aide, is ...

The rationale behind the 'begging'
Political Animal — THE RATIONALE BEHIND THE 'BEGGING'.... Not to belabor the point, but the exploits of Joe Lieberman have apparently led to some confusion , even among Democrats who should know better. Sen. Evan Bayh (D-IN) ... said he disagreed with stripping Lieberman of his chair. "No, I don't think there should be retribution," he said. "I think reconciliation is in order, not revenge or retribution." Bayh suggested that Lieberman apologize and "let bygones be bygones." Let's cut the nonsense. Reid offered Lieberman a chance to stay in the Democratic caucus, keep his seniority, and become the chairman of some other committee. Lieberman thinks ...

Reid Spokesperson: Democratic Senators May Vote On Lieberman's Fate Within Caucus
TPM Election Central — ... is being seriously considered, and is a significant ratcheting up of pressure on Lieberman by Reid's office. Manley said it was unclear as yet how precisely the mechanics of such a move would work, but left no doubt that it was likely to happen if Lieberman and Reid didn't resolve their impasse before the next caucus meeting. The move would in effect put Lieberman's fate in the hands of his Dem colleagues. Top liberal bloggers -- among them John Aravosis, Josh Orton and Steve Benen -- are already mounting a pressure campaign, calling on their ...

Maybe Lieberman can get the morning coffee or something
Crooks and Liars — ... Reid is nevertheless willing to a) let him stay in the Democratic caucus; b) keep his seniority; and c) give him the chairmanship of something else. That, by any reasonable measure, is ridiculously gracious of Reid. It's certainly more generosity than Lieberman deserves or has earned. Joe can threaten all he likes, but fact is: He's irrelevant now. There's no reason for Dems to cave on these threats. Let's let his Democratic colleagues know. As Josh Orton at MyDD says: Before, Lieberman was hoping to privately lobby his ...
