Last night, during his Saddleback Church presidential forum, Pastor Rick Warren asked both Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) and Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) to “define rich.” With regard to tax brackets, “where do you move from middle class to rich?” Warren asked. Obama said, “if you are making $150,000 a year or less, as a family, then you’re middle class.”

McCain: Obama Is Rich Middle Class Too!

The McCain campaign responds:
"Does a guy who made more than $4 million last year, just got back from vacation on a private beach in Hawaii and bought his own million-dollar mansion with the help of a convicted felon really want to get into a debate about houses?"
I thought that people who only make $4 million a year are still comfortably part of the middle class, according to John McCain. Of course, John McCain made even less than that last year, and since his definition of 'rich' conveniently ...

Politics Is Personal, And Obama Ad Hits That Note On Economy

... Because America cannot afford more McSame. We're sick and tired of being trickled on and taken for a golden parachute corporate socialism ride.
Obama isn't perfect, but I simply cannot vote for McCain, who has lobbyists doing business on his campaign bus and who seemingly has no concept how real people live day to day. Joe Biden got this right: "I could walk from here to Lansing, and I wouldn't run into a single person who thought our economy was doing well, unless I ran into John McCain." ...
Wall Street. Main Street. Why No Mention of Side Streets and Alleys?

... Of course, "middle class" itself has lost meaning over the years. For some presidential candidates, the dividing line is $5 million, and while that was meant as a joke, sort of, plenty of politicians have put the figure at an income of around $200,000 or better, which only 2 percent of the populationwhen, in fact, the national median income is just over $50,000. Those at $200,000 or better are in the top 2 percent. ...

I'm not sure if this is a problem of being too rich, marrying into a family that is too rich and not feeling it is yours, or being old. But, John McCain doesn't know how many houses he and his wife own.
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Days after he cracked that being rich in the U.S. meant earning at least $5 million a year, Republican presidential candidate John McCain acknowledged that he wasn't sure ...
Obama skewers McCain over definition of ‘rich’ —

Following up on an item from the other day, the Rev. Rick Warren asked Barack Obama and John McCain the same two-word question at Saturday night’s at Saddleback Church: “Define rich.”
After teasing Rick Warren a bit about his book sales, Obama explained that if he were elected, those who make $150,000 or less will see a tax cut under his administration, and those making ...

When asked by Rich Warren last night how he would “define rich,” McCain did his very best to avoid the question and instead started rambling about the DNA of bears and Congress’ vacation time. Although he said “$5 million” jokingly, it’s pretty clear he didn’t want to offend the fat cat base of the Republican Party. This is pretty ironic coming from ...

Republicans do a lot of complaining about liberals in the entertainment industry...but when campaign season rolls around, they're never shy about using those people's music as theme songs. From Ronald Reagan and "Born in the USA" to George W. Bush and "Still the One," there's a rich tradition of Republicans being called out by Democratic musicians unthrilled at seeing their work used to ...
