Owing a hundred thousand dollars in back taxes seems a bit too much. What is it with these democrats? They don't have any problem raising taxes on the rest of us. When it comes their turn to pay, they are looking for a pass. This really is shameful.
Whopsie! Daschle's Tax Problems Are More Extensive Than First Thought
Ace of Spades HQ —
Whopsie! Daschle's Tax Problems Are More Extensive Than First Thought Looks like Daschle has a bigger problem than not paying taxes on the gift of a car and driver. He didn't report $83,333 in income and it turns out he claimed charitable contributions that didn't qualify so he had to pay taxes on those as well. All in all he had to pony up an extra $140,000 in payments and interest. Team of Rivals Cheats

... Funny how the Democrats are so very much in favor of tax increases as a party, isn’t it? When they can’t even seem to pay their current taxes, I mean. The latest Obama administration appointee to run afoul of taxes is none other than Tom Daschle. To the tune of $140,167 in unpaid taxes . With the unreported income from the use of a car service in the amounts of $73,031 in 2005, $89,129 in 2006 and $93,096 in 2007; the unreported consulting income of $83,333 in 2007; and the adjusted reductions in charitable contributions, Daschle adds a total of $353,552 in additional income ...

... the use of a car and driver at taxpayer expense — didn’t declare their services on his income taxes, as tax laws require. During the vetting process to become HHS secretary, Daschle corrected the tax violation, voluntarily paying $101,943 in back taxes plus interest, working with his accountant to amend his tax returns for 2005 through 2007. That’s just the tip of the iceberg. Late Friday night, ABC News obtained the Senate Finance Committee report on Daschle, which revealed even more unreported income: Mr. Daschle also didn’t report $83,333 in consulting income in 2007. ...

... below it looks like Daschle s tax problems are more serious than they seemed when all this first broke last night. Beyond the personal driver issue there is a lot of consulting income that Daschle failed to report, and several other irregularities. It also seems like the first example of the Obama team playing the familiar Washington game of letting problematic news out after 6pm on a Friday. That didn't take long. The consulting question points as well to the perplexity of a lot of folks around Washington at the fact that Daschle s nomination doesn t violate the Obama ...

The Democrats’ Patriotism Deficit
RedState: Conservative News and Community —
... Oh no, yet another exception. Former Senate majority leader Tom Daschle, nominated by our rookie president to be secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, suffered a lapse in his patriotism, failing to pay a whopping $128,000 in taxes. The man who used to run the U.S. Senate apparently did not report consulting fees, made questionable charitable contributions, and was the beneficiary of a car and driver thoughtfully furnished by a company run by a longtime Democrat Party donor. Even worse, Daschle has some ...
