I will be voting against Proposition 8, which seeks to change the state’s constitution to eliminate the judicially invented right to same sex marriage. The constitution would be amended to add the language: “Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in ...

If I lived in the Soviet of California
doubleplusundead —
If I lived in the Soviet of California ...and that'll never fucking happen unless some wild demographic shift turns it into Wingnutifornia, but I'd also vote no on Prop 8 . I don't think laws restricting behavior or actions of citizens should be made on a constitutional level, not that Californians can't do this, but I think it's much better to limit constitutional changes to restricting what government can do. If the goal of Prop 8 was to make a change on the California constitution barring the judiciary from making gay marriage into law, I'd vote hell yes for that, then ...

Patterico: No On 8
The Daily Dish | By Andrew Sullivan —
One the most conservative voices in the blogosphere takes a stand: I am angry about the California Supreme Court’s attempt to take this
matter out of voters’ hands, and part of me wants to support the
measure just to flip the bird to the justices. Ultimately, however, I
support the right of homosexuals to marry one another, and so I will be
voting no...
The downside of banning gay marriage is that homosexuals
are made to feel that they are second-class citizens. I don’t know
whether being gay is genetic, a learned ...
Actually, It's the People Who Are Foaming at the Mouth Over Gay Marriage Who are Threatening Heterosexual Marriages.

Actually, It's the People Who Are Foaming at the Mouth Over Gay Marriage Who are Threatening Heterosexual Marriages. At least, my own: A the H and I nearly had to "step outside" over California's Proposition 8. Patterico, however, is on my side. I wonder if his wife agrees with him. And the proprietress of the now-dormant CalBlog is at odds with her own husband over the same issue. Of course, as attorneys they are used to discussing such matter in a dispassionate way. My own equivalent household debate was not, really, my finest hour. On the other hand, my husband didn't ...

latimes.com 11/1/2008 — It's simple: Government did not create marriage. Marriage is older than the U.S. Constitution, older even than the Bible or the Koran. Marriage's deepest roots are in human nature and human experience. Marriage, as a judge on the Connecticut Supreme ...
