"Much of Mr Obama’s rhetoric is strikingly conservative, even Reaganesque. He preaches the virtues of personal responsibility and family values, and practises them too. He talks in uplifting terms about the promise of American life. His story also appeals to conservatives: it holds the possibility of freeing America from its racial demons, proving that the country is a race-blind meritocracy and, in the process, bankrupting a race-grievance industry that has produced the likes of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton."

Obama campaign slams Stanley Kurtz as a “slimy character assassin”
Sister Toldjah — ... The Volokh Conspiracy’s Jim Lindgren notices something strange about this: The fact that the Obama campaign has denounced Stanely Kurtz ”to a much greater extent” than they’ve ever have  Ayers.  In fact, what is written about Ayers on ...

MIDDAY ROUNDUP
News — ... . The Obama campaign organized its supporters to protest a Chicago radio appearance by Obama critic Stanley Kurtz, who has now received harsher treatment from the campaign than Weather Underground member William Ayers did, writes Jim Lindgren at The Volokh Conspiracy. The campaign's response to Kurtz, a writer who "painstakingly" researched the relationship between Ayers and Obama, shows that the Democrat hates debate but loves "bully-boy tactics," writes Power Line's ...

When conventions were fun…
The Anchoress — ... that was blowing throughout the nation, stifling free speech. He preached it, he wrote a play about it…and ironically, no one ever shut him up or shut him down for it. Because it was a false claim. Now, we’re seeing real efforts to shut down the free speech of real people daring to dissent, or daring to ask uncomfortable questions . Al Gore ...

cracking down on right wing fear-mongers
Classical Values — ... ," and after barely touching on the subject, goes on to list an odd compilation of opinions from Stanley Kurtz on unrelated subjects such as gay marriage in Scandinavia, feminism, and Larry Summers. (Obviously, the goal was to whip the lefties into a state of agitation in the hope they'd call. Which they did.) The bottom line is that Obama has gone for Kurtz's jugular, while he has yet to denounce his colleague Ayers: 1. Barack Obama and his campaign have denounced Ayers's actions and at least one of Ayers's statements, but I think that neither Obama nor his campaign has ...

Why Ayers matters
neo-neocon — ... But don’t sit on a hot stove until Obama explains it. The most he has done is to attack and try to silence Stanley Kurtz, a writer for National Review who has been trying to open up the closed files of the Annenberg Foundation to public scrutiny. ...

Obama Whines About Being Linked With His Friend the Terrorist
JammieWearingFool — ... . Still, while Obama can play cute and say he's denounced Ayers' actions, there's no record of him ever denouncing Ayers himself , but will go to great lengths to denounce and smear anyone who questions his friendship with Ayers. Kurtz, unlike Ayers, is denounced in the most vicious and uncivil terms (there is a lot more than I quoted). If Obama or his campaign had ever denounced Ayers with the fervor that his campaign has now used in denouncing Kurtz, Obama wouldn’t be having trouble on his connection to Ayers. And I’m not suggesting that Obama should have denounced Ayers. I ...
