Obama Picks Antismoking Advocate to Be HHS Deputy

Jane Zhang reports on health care. President-elect Barack Obama said he will nominate William Corr , who has long advocated reducing tobacco use, as deputy secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services. Corr is the executive director at the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids and until September was a registered lobbyist for the antismoking group. Among other things, he lobbied Congress to give the Food and Drug Administration, an HHS agency, the authority to regulate tobacco. A ...
