Depressing: Obama Declares "I Won" as He Blows off Promise to Govern in a Bipartisan Way
Ace of Spades HQ —
Depressing: Obama Declares "I Won" as He Blows off Promise to Govern in a Bipartisan Way Stealing from Hot Air again, because this is too depressing to write about myself. As for Allah's comment that there's nothing the GOP can do -- in practical terms, he's right. But the liberals couldn't do anything -- or much -- from 2002-2006, but they managed to do an awful lot to undermine the president. We can do the same, albeit in a more positive way; that is, rather than pure childish carping and sniping, we can continue offering sober counterproposals. Will we "win" on them? ...
Obama tells GOP, 'I won'
Political Animal —
... debate, and one of them has the backing of the American electorate, and was endorsed after a national campaign based on a specific policy platform. Hint to Kyl: it's not your side. I can only hope the president keeps this in mind as the negotiations continue. It's very gracious of him to try to bring in the failed and unpopular party to work on these issues, but before any major concessions are made, that single phrase -- "I won" -- should be front and center. It's already drawing complaints from the right, with suggestions that Obama is being insufficiently "bipartisan" by ...
Obama: "I won."
The Reaction —
... Conservative Allahpundit notes sarcastically that "[t]he golden age of bipartisanship beginneth." How hard it is to deal with reality when the tables have so dramatically turned. ...
What Exactly Are We Stimulating with Our Hundreds of Billions of Dollars?
Patterico's Pontifications —
Via Hot Air comes this clip of Republican leaders discussing their meeting with Obama about the stimulus package:
Embedded video from CNN Video
In the clip, Boehner repeatedly expresses concerns about the “size of the package” and asks at the end: “How you can spend hundreds of millions of dollars on contraceptives — how does that stimulate the economy?”
Indeed, it’s a good question whether you can get stimulated with hundreds of millions of dollars worth of contraceptives. And yes, it certainly ...

doubleplusundead —
... has never been fraught with panic in how to help us, but simply how to get power and re-elected. Oh, you more than bought into it, and the problem isn't Congress, don't shift blame, you know better. Besides, Obama came out of that clusterfuck of stupidity called Congress. What makes you think he's any better than the rest, other than his penchant for flowery language (assuming he can see his teleprompter)? Let me ask this, what do you have to say about Mr. Bipartisan Hopenchange, when during a meeting with the GOP leadership he says I won, and here's what I'm doing ? Bush ...
Does Obama have a car dealer enemies list?
RedState: Conservative News and Community —
... , we first saw signs that Obama wasn’t above playing hardball with his political opponents during the active campaign. Even though he won, Obama and his team have remained in campaign mode to this very day. Obama demonstrated for all to see that he had no qualms about leaning heavily on radio and television stations which aired ads depicting him in an unfavorable light. Now he appears to be taking the payback thing a big step further by punishing car dealers who donated to the other side. The message Emperor Barack I is sending is a chilling ...
No, “Everyone” Did Not Guess Wrong
Nice Deb —
... Geoff, from Uncommon Misconceptions comments on Joe Biden’s most recent brain fart over at Innocent Bystanders:
Joe Tries to Spin, But Ends Up Twisting in the Wind
Vice President Joe Biden says “everyone guessed wrong” on the impact of the economic stimulus.
Really. Let’s look back about 4 months and try to remember who was guessing what:
Obama reminds GOP in stimulus meeting: “I won” (Hot Air): 1/23/09
House passes stimulus plan, but with no Republican votes (McClatchy): ...
