McCain camp hits back at 'diva' Palin
Ben Smith's Blog —
Responding to the grumblings from Palin's camp in my story this morning, McCain's camp hits back in conversations with CNN:
McCain sources say Palin has gone off-message several times, and they privately wonder whether the incidents were deliberate. They cited an instance in which she labeled robocalls -- recorded messages often used to attack a candidate's opponent -- "irritating" even as the campaign defended their use. Also, they pointed to her telling reporters she disagreed with the campaign's decision to pull out of Michigan.

The Daily Dish | By Andrew Sullivan —
The recklessness of the Palin pick is captured in this small anecdote from the Draper piece:
The following night, after McCain’s speech brought the convention to a close, one of the campaign’s senior advisers stayed up late at the Hilton bar savoring the triumphant narrative arc. I asked him a rather basic question: “Leaving aside her actual experience, do you know how informed Governor Palin is about the issues of the day?”
The senior adviser thought for a moment. Then he looked up from his beer. “No,” he said quietly. “I don’t know.”
And here is what we hear from CNN: "Her ...

IT ALL COMES BACK TO JUDGMENT.... The infighting among McCain campaign staffers got a little tense over the weekend, with the bulk of the tension surrounding Sarah Palin -- one faction believes she's to blame for the campaign's problems, while another believes McCain's aides have misused her and failed to take advantage of her strengths. Lords of Undiscipline
Reason Magazine - Hit & Run —
This gruesome CNN exchange with John McCain spokesman Michael Goldfarb (on loan from The Weekly Standard), highlights something I've long observed but rarely written about: The McCain campaign's stunning lack of discipline. First, take a look at Goldfarb missing an opportunity to paint Rick Sanchez as a rabid Obama fan by instead turning the entire segment into a bizarre Obama-consorts-with-known-anti-Semites-who-we-all-know-but-I-won't-name: Goldfarb may be a swell guy in private (I've heard rumors to that effect), but you don't win elections by deploying non-professionals who aren't ready for the ultimate prime ...

But certainly in the short term, or even the long term, I would not support repeal of Roe v. Wade , which would then force women in America to [undergo] illegal and dangerous operations.” McCain. What Sarah Palin didn't know, as reported by Fox's Carl Cameron

Now it can be revealed, Fox News Channel reporter Carl Cameron just told network anchor Shepherd Scott.
There WAS tension between between John McCain staff members and Sarah Palin (as other news outlets previously reported), and part of it stemmed from some rather glaring gaps in what the governor of Alaska knew about the rest of the world.
Cameron, the Fox beat reporter for the Republican presidential ticket, said he had been told by unnamed sources -- and on the condition he not report the details during the campaign -- that Palin ...

Sarah Palin: The GOP’s Best Hope in 2012

Funny how the Palin-bashing seems to be coming from staffers loyal to Mitt Romney, whom she threatens the most. It is, sadly, one they had begun two weeks prior to the election, a time when their candidate most needed them. Dianne Feinstein Goes Rogue
Politics Daily —
And you thought Sarah Palin bit the hand that fed her! Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein, of California, has positioned herself at odds with the leaders of her own party twice this week. First, she publicly questioned Barack Obama's selection of Leon Panetta as CIA chief. Her official complaint was that he was unqualified for the position, which was fair considering that his experience with foreign intelligence is limited to ordering Chinese food for Bill Clinton. She was also somewhat miffed that Obama didn't give her a call to let her know about the choice - a major oversight, considering that she chairs the Senate ...
Stuart Whatley: Advice To Palin: Give The GOP Elephant His Job Back
Politics on HuffingtonPost.com —
Newt Gingrich this week prophesied that Alaska Governor Sarah Palin could become "very formidable" in the coming years as long as she "seeks out a group of sophisticated policy advisers". I daresay the latter clause of this statement is more likely than the former. But maybe I'm not being fair. Governor Palin does indeed have the potential to be a "very formidable" and viable GOP presidential candidate in 2012. However, the journey before her will be nothing short of a modern-day Pinocchio story--an endeavor to transform from a cartoon character into a real person.
Tina Fey was successful in lampooning Palin on SNL by using almost exact ...
