... allies. In this instance, the commenter is talking about rewarding the unions with public works projects. The commenter rightly asks whether these people are laid off or if they’re in danger of being laid off. The answer to both questions is no.
In other words, this doesn’t even meet President Obama’s criteria of creating new jobs or saving existing jobs. I haven’t read where any city’s street department is laying people off.
Support for this bill will shrink after people hear this:

... when 11 House Dems voted “NO!” with the Republicans against the spending bill …
But it WILL be “bipartisan” if three Senate Repubs vote “YES!” with the Democrats, and the damn thing passes.
More of that liberal/left/democrat hijacking of words and their meaning.
I gotta believe there are more than a handful of democrats in both the House and Senate that do not like this fat-assed pig of a bill …

Ouch:
Rep. Heath Shuler (D-N.C) has further ingratiated himself with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi — not — by declaring that Pelosi and Harry Reid “failed” the bipartisanship test on stimulus.

Is this how the next, great, governing majority in America acts? Rep. Heath Shuler (D-N.C) has further ingratiated himself with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi -- not -- by declaring that Pelosi and Harry Reid "failed" the bipartisanship test on stimulus. "In order for us to get the confidence of America, it has to be done in a bipartisan way," Shuler said in Raleigh following an economic forum, according to the AP. [. . .] Here's the kicker: "I truly feel that's where maybe House leadership and Senate leadership have really failed." And ...

... when Bennet gave a speech to about 40 Democrats at a local party meeting in Jefferson County. The new Senator gave a short speech on the current federal stimulus plan before taking a question from a woman in the back of the room. According to a report on a Colorado political blog, the woman said: "I’m sorry, I like some of what you’re saying, but who the hell are you?" NC-Sen: Yeah, Heath, please run for Senate, and let us get rid of you from public office. Rep. Heath Shuler (D-N.C) has further ingratiated ...
