This delightful (if crude) forgery brings to mind a black-and-white shot I've been hunting for, dating from aeons ago.

The Great Chairman sits astride a tiny horse, with his 'Close Comrade in Arms' Lin Biao and First Witch Chiang Ching also on ponies beside him. All face the camera.

In subsequent (pre-Photoshop, cut-and-paste doctored) versions, they one by one disappear into thin air, with the final shot of Mao oddly showing him all alone on his horsey. Talk about becoming a non-person in the People's Paradise.

The shots were airbrushed nicely but 'alert readers' (thanks Dave Berry) aka China-watchers matched the shots and this told the tale. Creeps. Murderers. Incompetents. 'Non-person', ha.
