Eric Holder: A Rebuke Of Bush-League Justice
Think Progress —
... Glenn Greenwald — a consistent and vocal critic of the Bush Justice Department — writes that Holder’s views seem “rather unconstrained for Washington, suggestive of actual passion and conviction on these matters.” Digby writes similarly, “If [Holder] follows through… ...

Reaction Round-Up: Eric Holder Nomination
Politics on HuffingtonPost.com —
... praising his long record. For those who are critical of Holder, Marc Rich isn't that easy to overlook. And for others, the reasons to scrutinize Holder run beyond that single pardon. On the left, there's concern about his position on detainees after 9/11. On the right, there's the general perception that Holder is a convention leftist. Below, take in a sampling of responses, hot and cold, with some interesting lukewarm reactions in between.

Will Eric Holder Shift Justice Away From The Bush Model?
TPMMuckraker —
... Still, as Salon's Glenn Greenwald has noted, Holder hasn't always taken that position. In January, 2002 -- admittedly, during a period when 9/11-induced panic was prompting a lot of otherwise smart people to take a hard line on these questions -- he ...

How would Holder Hold Up on Civil Justice Issues?
Open Left - Front Page —
Written by DMI's Civil Justice Fellow, Kia Franklin.
He still has to undergo the formal vetting process, but Eric Holder looks to be Obama's AG pick. So, how will Holder hold up when it comes to civil justice? On TortDeform we've talked extensively about a Pro-Civil Justice Presidential Platform, but access to justice for every American requires leadership and hard work from more than just the President. "America's lawyer" and "top cop", the Attorney General, has perhaps the most important role in advancing policies that preserve Americans' cherished legal rights and strengthen their access to effective, fair civil courts. ...
On the trail of transition
The Reaction —
... between the two political parties. So what can our next president (ONP) do to lead during the next two months of transition? No matter who coming into his administration is announced, there is going to be criticism or cautious praise. For example, Glenn Greenwald does not like one of the President-elect's national security advisers. On 11/16/08, he headlined, "John Brennan and Bush's interrogation/detention policies." On the other hand, Glenn Greenwald on Eric Holder was fairly positive, as was Politico. ...

Clearly it is Eric Holder day here at FDL and I didn't want to be left out of the party. Especially since I was one of the ones starting it. Now Looseheadprop has covered a lot of the ground, here, here and here and Dr. Kirk Murphy here and here, but I would like to ...
Rolling Back the Fog at Justice
democracyarsenal.org —
Plenty of others have dissected Eric Holder's record, both in substance and rhetoric, so I'm going to try and steer clear from digging too deep into his past. But one thing has become clear in the reaction Holder's nomination, and indeed within reaction to most of Obama's nominees: these are seasoned professionals with long track records who couldn't be further from the cronyism and malfeasance that occurred under President Bush. But one problem with putting seasoned professionals into these posts is that long track-records don't tend to please 100% of the traditional and online punditry 100% of the time. Of course ...
12/3: The GOP Comeback Begins?
Blogometer —
December 03, 2008 12/3: The GOP Comeback Begins? Conservative bloggers are in a good mood following GOP Sen. Saxby Chambliss 's big victory over Dem challenger Jim Martin in yesterday's runoff election in GA. Righty bloggers are highlighting the fact that Chambliss's margin of victory yesterday was much larger than his margin of victory on Nov. 4th, when Barack Obama was on the ballot. Conservative bloggers see this as evidence that Obama's appeal is unique to him and does not extend to other Dems. Soren Dayton declares: "This tells us that Americans picked Obama and change, but not a broad Democratic or left-leaning agenda for ...
Obama refuses to rule out investigation of the left’s alleged ‘crimes of the Bush administration’
RedState: Conservative News and Community —
President-elect Obama, in an interview with George Stephanopoulos on “This Week,” would not rule out political retribution dressed up as investigations of the looney left-wing’s fanciful allegations of Bush administration war-crimes:
STEPHANOPOULOS: The most popular question on your own website is related to this. On change.gov it comes from Bob Fertik of New York City and he asks, “Will you appoint a special prosecutor ideally Patrick Fitzgerald to independently investigate the greatest crimes of the Bush administration, including torture and warrantless ...
