Is There a Clinton Backlash? How About A Backlash Backlash?
FiveThirtyEight: Politics Done Right —
... Rasmussen has some instant feedback on Barack Obama's selection of Joe Biden. As their write-up notes, there appears to be a gender gap in the initial response to his selection. And it's the reverse gender gap than you'll usually see when a Democratic candidate makes news: men like the pick better than women. ...
Biden As Barry’s VP: Actually, A Fantastic Choice
Stop The ACLU —
Right now, you might be saying “Teach, are you drunk? Have you drunk the liberal kool aid? Or, are you just a bit fetched in the head?” Maybe a bit of 1 and 3, but, let’s think about what the pick of Biden brings. There is not much point in going over what so many pundits and columnists wrote Saturday. The basics that most, both left and right came to, was “he really ads nothing to the ticket. He won’t bring in many votes, he won’t help with the South, he makes Obama look like the foreign policy neophyte he really is, heck, he makes Barry look like a neophyte in most things. Joe is much more qualified to be president then Barry. He has those massive ties to lobbyists that Barry whines about. He is a massive Washington insider. This has ...

Rasmussen: Biden a lukewarm choice posted at 11:00 am on August 24, 2008 by Ed Morrissey Send to a Friend | printer-friendly Rasmussen test-polled Joe Biden as a running mate for Barack Obama, and clearly he is not about to set the world on fire. A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 25% disagreed and another 35% are not sure. Women are notably less enthusiastic than men—33% of women say Biden was the right choice while 27% disagreed. Men, by a ...
The Biden Bump
The Next Right —
Errrr . . . not so much . . .
Obviously it is one poll, and it is too early to read anything into this, but I do note that after the inclusion of one full day of post-Biden polling, the Gallup trend reversed directions, and shows a tie.
I do wonder how much of Obama's support consisted of people who were hoping for an Obama/Hillary (or other woman) ticket, and are unhappy with the selection. Note that Rasmussen (which showed a 1-point bump for Obama/Biden) finds that women are significantly less likely to believe that Obama made the right pick with Biden.
Again, it is early, so this amounts to little more than idle speculation. But what else is the blogosphere for???

Daily Blog Buzz: Drama in Denver
Weekly Standard Blog —
It's only Day 1 of the Democratic Convention, and there's already drama for Barack Obama.
First, things aren't looking so certain in the polls. CNN reports that the race is a "dead heat": "In a new CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll out Sunday night, 47 percent of those questioned are backing Obama with an equal amount supporting the Arizona senator." Don Surber explains, "This month, after his rock star world tour before 200,000 people in Berlin--and after picking as his running mate Democratic Sen. Joe Biden--Obama is now tied with McCain." What happened?
Jules Crittenden says, "Obama-Biden ‘08 going nowhere fast. Post-announcement poll shows Biden choice sucking whatever life was left out of ...
