Confederate Yankee — The Taxpayer Option: 1,990 Pages Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair! A bill can only get this bloated when Congress isn't conscientious enough, or diligent enough, to craft concise and thoughtful legislation that accomplishes a specific task with a clear purpose and logical mechanisms for implementation and enforcement. This is a trainwreck, authored by the lazy and incompetent, and should be aborted instead of the children the bill would require taxpayers to kill.

AFP is of course a tad light on the details of just what those compromises might be, but if the bill includes a public option as the article says, then it's hard to see what was compromised (except our national prosperity, that is).
