Thanks for Nothing, Alaska
Sound Politics —
Thanks for Nothing, Alaska GOP losses last night in Congress were not pleasant, but not as severe as many predicted - and significantly less problematic than one might expect given the ultimate margin of Obama's victory. That said, the return of Ted Stevens and Don Young to Congress is not helpful. Young will be easier to marginalize in the House than Stevens in the Senate, but both will serve as an impediment to the necessary remaking of the Congressional GOP that will no doubt be led by the likes of Eric Cantor and Paul Ryan. Begich overtakes Stevens in Alaska vote count
The Reaction —
... incumbent Republican Don Young, who's corrupt in that specially Stevensesque sort of way, is still well ahead in his House race against Democratic challenger Ethan Berkowitz.) CNN has the updated results for the three Alaska votes -- President, Senate, House -- here. See also Alaska Elections here (with updated unofficial results here).
