U.S. Restores Diplomatic Relations With Libya
Innocent Bystanders —
DrewM at Ace’s blog isn’t too happy about this . (Ditto NRO’s Andrew McCarthy .) Maybe my disagreement is more about the language of the agreement than its effect. Drew and Andy are both concerned about the US agreement to pay reparations to Libya (Drew calls it a “spectacularly ugly bit of moral equivelance”). I’m more concerned about the diplomatic relations. The Pan Am bombing happened in 1988. Is there any particular reason why we want to keep Libya as an enemy twenty years later? In my many discussions with liberals with the War on Terror, I have taken great ...

Enemies Inside the Gates
Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler —
... the regime responsible for the terrorist attacks, as opposed to a deliberate attack on innocent civilians with the intent of murdering as many as possible? Some people believe that there is no difference between responding militarily to a terrorist act of mass murder and the terrorist mass murder itself. That’s no secret. We’ll always have criminally insane morons without even a smidgen of a moral compass among us. The troubling part is that “some people”, in this case, appears to be our very own administration : Libya and the United States Thursday signed a compensation deal ...
