Denying the problem won’t make it go away
PoliGazette —
Before I start, let me repeat Michael Merritt’s words of yesterday: We here at Poligazette would like to send out our thoughts and prayers to all the families of the men and women who died today at Fort Hood. And we wish all the injured a full recovery.
What happened yesterday was, rather obviously, horrible. As Michelle Malkin documents, yet another muslim extremist went on a shooting spree. The attack should serve as a reminder that the war on terrorism continues unabated. The U.S. may have gotten a new ...

The obvious purpose was to turn our eyes away from Islamism and toward psychiatric instability as a motive.… even as further reports have eyewitnesses stating Hasan shouted Allahu Akbar! as he went about his evil murderous deed in a “very calm and measured approach” ?“Morally flacid” doesn’t even begin to cover it. There’s more so read it in full.
–Crooks and Liar’s David Neiwert:
Of course, the wingnuts — led by Michelle Malkin and Pam Geller — are going ape in their campaign to paint this as a terrorist attack by a Muslim jihadi. Nothing like a big dose of the very ethnic stereotyping that appears to have driven Hasan to a murderous rage to make things better, eh?

Conservative Says Hasan Acted On Orders Of Muslim Brotherhood: What Do We Know?
TPMMuckraker —
... "Muslim" and openly questioned the loyalty of the two Muslim members of Congress.
We've seen no evidence at this point that Hasan, who is Muslim, was acting on behalf of any group. But it's been reported not just that Hasan is devoutly religious, but also that he may have proselytized in inappropriate contexts. Fort Hood's base commander says that he shouted "Allahu Akbar" -- Arabic for "God is Great" -- before opening fire.
Meanwhile, Michelle Malkin hails a "brilliant essay on the MSM whitewashing of jihad" in Pajamas Media. But from our ...

He is everything President Obama wants to pretend doesn’t exist. Well. America can’t afford to indulge President Obama and his liberal minions their p.c. fantasies. It gets citizens killed. The Ft. Hood massacre was a reality-check.

Right-Wingers: “Political Correctness” to Blame for Ft. Hood Shootings

... the opposite in the face of the Ft. Hood tragedy.
They are, in fact, collectivizing the shooter’s guilt, smearing the entire Muslim religion, they did not respect the families of the dead by leaping to conclusions, there are no mentions of “kooks” or “isolated incidents” and they are quite happily jumping to score political points — most notably, by blaming the tragedy on “political correctness.”

Why was Hasan still in the military?
neo-neocon —
Michelle Malkin has a good round-up of articles about Hasan and the Fort Hood shooting, especially as Islam relates to the event.
Short version: it does. And no, not all Moslems are terrorists, or even the majority. But yes, Islam is a religion that tends to foster and promote these sorts of acts, and with a history of proselytizing through armed conflict.
But what I’m wondering is this: why, with the huge number of red flags raised by Hasan’s prior behavior and remarks (supporting jihadist suicide bombers, for example), was Hasan still in the ...

Is Nadal Malik Hasan's Religion Relevant?
Swampland —
Despite the fact that solid information about yesterday's mass shooting at Fort Hood are just starting to trickle in--heck, it was only 12 hours or so ago that we learned that the shooter wasn't actually dead--speculation has swirled today about whether Nadal Malik Hasan's brutal act was linked to his Muslim faith. In general, conservatives have held up the shooting as a "we told you so" moment and lectured liberals about the dangers of trusting Muslims, especially in the armed forces. For their part, ...
First as tragedy, next as farce, after that…?
Cold Fury —
Well, we knew it was coming. Some of us, anyway. And those trifling PC twits who didn’t anticipate Ft Hood should have, and would have if they had any connection to reality whatsoever. After all, a “devout” (read: “radical”) Muslim attacking, or planning to attack, US soldiers on US soil is hardly unprecedented : Sgt. Akbar is not the only MSWA — Muslim soldier with attitude — suspected of infiltrating our military, endangering our troops and undermining national security: – Ali A. Mohamed.
