Depressing.
INSTAPUTZ — These photos at Nate Silver's of McSame headquarters in battleground states are pathetic. I mean, really pathetic.

Ground Game
EschatonSean Quinn: We read the published comments from McCain spokespeople that argue the dialing/canvassing numbers are ahead of where they were at the same time four years ago. Well, either the Bush ground game of 2004 was the Big Myth, or those spokespeople are flat lying to reporters, who have no context to challenge those claims because they haven't seen the empty offices the way we have. I've actually long thought, with no evidence, that the Bush ground game was in fact a Big Myth.

Air and Field with Budget constraints

GOTV Ground Game Gone
Newshoggers.com — ... has a great post up showing the demoralized ranks, or lack, of McCain's field office forces. A series of photos from around the country of various McCain campaign offices is simply grim. Except for Democrats. In that case, you're probably smiling at the wreckage of a campaign that appears to have no ground game, no volunteers, and is now going to rely solely on television adverts in the final weekend. So much so, that the McCain team has told volunteers that they are on their own. ...

Sadly, No! — ... field organization crossed a huge threshold and began reaching more than one million voters per day, and by week’s end will have contacted more than 5 million voters. Our phone centers are full and our rate of voter contact is significantly out-pacing the Bush campaign in 2004. We have the resources to do the voter contact necessary to support the surge we are seeing in our polling with old fashioned grassroots outreach. Mitchell Bard: Who Would Be a Better President? I Say, Who Ran a Better Campaign?
Politics on HuffingtonPost.com — ... but without a well-organized campaign, Obama would not have been able to turn that enthusiasm into millions of small donations. Second, even with a money advantage, Obama's campaign was leaner and meaner than McCain's. Of the 10 highest-paid campaign employees, seven of the 10 work for McCain, including the three highest earners. At a time of economic crisis, the ability to work efficiently is essential, and Obama has proven he can do it. Sean Quinn at fivethirtyeight.com did an excellent job of discussing the strength of the Obama "ground game." ...

You will not be reimbursed for your transportation, but may spend no more than $1,000 of your personal funds due to federal campaign finance regulations.
