Can Sen. Stevens Vote for Himself? The Politico raises the question of whether Senator Ted Stevens, now that he is a convicted felon, can vote for his own reelection to the U.S. Senate. Under Alaska law, those convicted of a felony involving moral turpitude are disenfranchised. So, it seems, ...

More T-shirt thoughts & Wealth Spreading
Crooked Timber — ... and so on, that they are advocating the redistribution of wealth? If so, then American political discourse, which I never thought to be especially elevated, is in even a worse state than I thought. Orin Kerr says much the same. Today at the Corner Mark Levin is spluttering at the lack of ...

That Tape From 2001
Political Animal — That Tape From 2001 I spent part of last night trying to find a way to actually listen to the audio of Obama's interview with Chicago Public Radio. Unfortunately, I couldn't get it to work. So, unfortunately, I'm going to have to base my comments on Fox News' transcript , which is the most complete version I could find. It's plainly not a very good transcript -- it seems quite rushed (e.g., it's full of uncorrected spelling mistakes, abbreviations that it seems unlikely that the speakers actually used, etc.) I would normally listen to the audio to check its reliability, but as I said, it was not to be. So take what follows with the appropriate ...

Blogometer — ... ' Kevin Drum : "I see that Drudge is blaring a headline about how Barack Obama believes it's a tragedy that the Supreme Court hasn't confiscated all your money and given it to poor people. Turning on the TV, I see that Fox New is all over it too. So is John McCain . Clearly, the guy's a total socialist. Except, you know, he's not. The whole thing is based on a distinctly academic radio panel Obama was part of seven years ago, and over at the Volokh Conspiracy even conservatives Orin Kerr and ...
