... the U.S., procedure often trumps substance, that is, if procedure is done incorrectly, the substance of an issue is never considered in open court. And, I hate to say it, but Prop 8 was the wrong way to go about banning gay marriage. What should have been done is for the Mormons, Catholics, and other assorted haters to lobby the CA legislature into repealing the law that permitted gay marriage.
