When something particularly outrageous is said in politics, you can usually count on Jon Stewart to pick it up and playfully skewer it. Given the abundance of outrageous comments since the last show, I expected Jon to dedicate one of his famous montages to the subject.
He did not. Instead, he dedicated almost the whole show to the matter. Though still funny, it was abundantly clear that he was authentically offended by the statements, and wanted to vent. In response, as a previous resident of the supposedly “not-so-real America” I can only say “My thoughts exactly”. No fire department? No schools? No social services at all?? What the fuck?? Plus, it looks like being clueless is a normal thing with mayors of Wasilla. I expected the one in that interview to chirp 'In what respect, Churlie?' when she was asked about her normal day. Blank looks and pregnant silences must come with the office. (And why does Comedy Central even bother putting embed code on their site if they don't make the goddamn videos available? Just askin'.)
