Bob Cesca: Fake Balance and McCain's Desperate Fear Campaign

... debunked. And that doesn't exclude the years in which it was vetted in Illinois.
But none of that matters, right? The Republicans are losing. Their candidates have proved to be ridiculous, spasmodic and inadequate. So the Republicans are wheeling out the fear-mongering and smear attacks. Senator McCain, this week, has literally quoted the actual subject line of the most notorious of the e-mail whisper campaigns: "Who is Barack Obama?" (Here's McCain saying it. Here's the whisper e-mail.)
And, of course, this particular display of fear-mongering is ...

... , apparently with
disinterest in the religious instruction he was provided, but by
his own admission had fallen away from faith of all kind by the
time he encountered Rev. Jeremiah Wright. As Obama wrote of
his youthful experience with religion, "my mother viewed religion
through the eyes of the anthropologist she would become; it was a
phenomenon to be treated with a suitable respect, but with a
suitable detatchment as well." Like something bitter people
cling to, one might say. ...

... It began long ago, however, in that notorious "Who Is Barack Obama?" whisper e-mail and, as if on cue, the thoroughly debunked smears in the e-mail bled out to far-right talkers like Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh. And she punctuated it with, "Get ready for President Hussein!" This from a woman who wished for the New York Times building to be bombed by terrorists. ...

... Presumably, the uptick in violence in the Gaza region is deliberate. Israelis and Palestinians both have a reason to test Obama's foreign policy from day one, given the crazy rumours that abounded when Obama was a candidate: Obama is secretly Muslim, will take the oath on the Koran, that sort of stuff. ...

... and poked with many sharp sticks for bringing up his Muslim roots. No one was allowed to put the word “Hussein” anywhere near “Barack Obama” lest they be damned as a peddler of lies and slander. His Muslim background really didn’t matter he and his campgin told us repeatedly. Indeed, we were told ...

Obama Derangement Syndrome Meets The So-Called “War On Christmas”
Below The Beltway —
There’s a new rumor floating around about President Obama.
No, it’s not the one about his being a “secret Muslim.”
It’s not the one claiming that he donned “Islamic garb” on a trip to Kenya after being elected to the Senate.
It’s not the rumor that he was going to mark the 60th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China by raising the Chinese flag on the South Lawn of the White House. An event which never happened, by the way.
And, much to Orly ...
